Systems Software Engineer, Missile Defense National Team (Associate, Experienced or Senior)

The Boeing Company is looking for a Systems Software Engineer, Missile Defense National Team (Associate, Experienced or Senior) to join our Missile Defense National Team in Colorado Springs, CO or Huntsville, AL.
The Missile Defense National Team (MDNT) was established in 2004 to develop and deploy the Missile Defense Agency's (MDA) Command, Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) system. This system ingests data from sensors around the globe to create a single source of information for the warfighter to enable engagements. The C2BMC Program is a full lifecycle defense contract providing solutions across the engineering capability to include system architecture, development, deployment, operations and maintenance, and sustainment of the Missile Defense System (MDS). This work integrates efforts from multiple companies (teammates) with systems engineering experience in model-based systems engineering (MBSE), requirements development, modeling and simulation (M&S), network design, integration and test, and analysis.
This position will focus on supporting the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS). The Boeing Missile Defense Programs support the Missile Defense Agency's (MDA) mission to develop and deploy a layered Missile Defense System to defend the United States, its deployed forces, allies, and friends from missile attacks in all phases of flight. This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position may require the ability to obtain access to an MDA facility. Access to the facility requires a background investigation by U.S. government authorities.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Work with other industry partners as a key contributor to the design, development, and testing of software systems or Java-based mathematical algorithms into the C2BMC operational software applications.
  • Responsible for software systems engineering products for their Scrum Team, including development of software products.
  • Responsible for performing in-depth analysis and technical support of systems software products, including complex problem resolution, design, development, testing, operational integration, and user support.
  • Systems Engineering support for team that Maintains, debugs and configures related software products.
  • Works from specifications to develop or modify operating systems applications.
  • Assists with design, coding, benchmark testing, debugging and documentation of programs.
  • Work with SEIT organization to decompose system requirements to good software level requirements.
  • Work with SEIT organization to drive system use cases, CONOPS, and sequences.
  • Work with SEIT organization to develop / update system external interfaces.
  • Author or assist with proposals
  • Perform software design - software product level use cases, sequences.
  • Create and maintain software design - Algorithm Design Documents, Functional Design Documents.
  • Support full software development lifecycle including generating design artifacts, implementing software changes, supporting design and code reviews, software testing, and resolution of issues found during testing
  • Actively participate in agile planning and execution using established processes
  • Software Requirements and architecture development in support of MDS systems
  • Develop, select, tailor and deploy integration and test processes, tools and metrics
  • Execute and document integration and test activities and events

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship
  • 1+ years of experience in Unified Modeling Language (UML) or other software architecture and design modeling techniques
  • 1+ years of experience with Agile software development lifecycle
  • 2+ years of Java development experience (J2EE/Java Spring)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • Active U.S. Secret Clearance
  • 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to implement MATLAB based algorithms into Java-based software.
  • Experience in Model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and MBSE tools
  • Experience with software integration testing including developing automated test scripts
  • Use of Eclipse, Maven, Gradle, and/or microservices in software development
  • Experience software performance optimization
  • Experience using automated unit testing frameworks
  • Security+ or equivalent certification, but not required
  • Experience designing large command and control and/or weapon systems
  • Experience working within an Agile development environment, domain experience with both Space and Missile Defense, experience with Systems Analysis, Model Based System Engineering, Architecture development, Virtualization, Containerization, and Cloud Computing principles.
  • Experience working large multi-site software development efforts including external interface development.
  • Experience conducting or leading Analysis of Alternatives, Trade Studies and/or Design Evaluations
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to review performance issues, identify root causes, recommend and develop a solution

Summary Pay Range for Associate level: $99,450 - $134,550
Summary Pay Range for Experienced level: $126,650 - $171,350
