What is a decryption?

A Decryption job involves the process of converting encrypted data back into its original, readable format using the appropriate decryption keys or algorithms. This role is commonly found in cybersecurity, forensic analysis, and IT security, where professionals work to recover encrypted information for legitimate purposes. Decryption specialists may also assist in data recovery, analyze security vulnerabilities, and ensure secure access for authorized users while preventing unauthorized access.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in decryption, and why are they important?

To thrive in a Decryption role, candidates need strong analytical and problem-solving skills, proficiency in cryptography, and typically a degree in computer science, cybersecurity, or a related field. Familiarity with decryption tools, cryptanalysis software, programming languages like Python or C++, and relevant certifications such as CISSP or CEH are often required. Attention to detail, persistence, and clear communication skills are important soft skills for collaborating with teams and interpreting complex data. These skills ensure security teams can effectively decode encrypted information, supporting organizational security or investigative needs.

What are some of the main challenges faced in decryption?

Professionals in Decryption frequently encounter the challenge of working with highly complex or advanced encryption algorithms that require significant technical expertise and creativity to solve. They may also need to handle time-sensitive situations where decrypted information is critical to business or security decisions. The work often demands ongoing learning to keep up with evolving encryption standards and regular collaboration with cybersecurity teams to provide timely, accurate results. Despite these challenges, many find the work rewarding due to the impact it has on organizational security, investigative success, and personal growth in a rapidly advancing field.

Job Summary

Palo Alto Networks is seeking a visionary Senior Product Manager to drive the evolution of our core PAN-OS platform. This isn't just a product management role; it's an opportunity to shape the future of network security by leading the strategy for PAN-OS encrypted data inspection and post-quantum cryptography. You will be at the epicenter of our platformization strategy, a key initiative that unifies our security offerings and accelerates our growth.

In this high-visibility role, you will be instrumental in leading innovation for foundational technology that powers our industry-leading firewalls and a growing suite of cloud-based services. Your expertise will be critical in driving the adoption of PAN-OS inspection of encrypted traffic across our entire Strata portfolio, from Next-Generation Firewalls to Prisma Access and Strata Cloud Manager.

This is a chance to have a profound impact, enabling our customers—from global enterprises to service providers—to deploy cutting-edge security features, including the latest innovations in threat prevention and Generative AI. If you're ready to tackle complex challenges and play a pivotal role in the world of cybersecurity, we invite you to apply.

Your Impact
  • Define Product Vision & Strategy: Establish the strategic vision, product roadmap, and technical requirements for the PAN-OS platform.
  • Lead Roadmap Execution: Drive the development and communication of the product roadmap to customers, prospects, and internal stakeholders.
  • Innovate Core Technologies: Manage key features within the PAN-OS decryption, post-quantum cryptography, and certificate management.
  • Drive Strategic Growth: Champion the future of decryption, identifying new opportunities through in-depth market research and competitive analysis.
  • Collaborate on GTM: Partner with sales and marketing to develop and execute go-to-market strategies and support sales enablement.
  • Analyze Performance: Monitor and leverage product performance metrics to guide continuous product enhancements.
Qualifications Your Experience
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Professional Background: 5-7 years of experience as a Product Manager, Technical Marketing Manager, or an engineering lead in software development, release, or quality assurance.
  • Technical Expertise: A strong understanding of networking RFCs, frameworks, and architectures, with hands‑on operational experience in device and appliance management. Experience with routing, switching, load balancers, or security/firewall technologies is a plus, particularly with PAN-OS NGFW firewalls.
  • Methodology: Experience with Agile methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence) and a proven track record of successfully launching products from concept to delivery.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
Technology Skills
  • We're looking for a Senior Product Manager with a deep understanding of networking and an advanced knowledge of key technologies, including:
    • Network Fundamentals: Deep expertise in the OSI model (Layers 2-7), TLS, HTTP, QUIC, routing protocols, and L2 switching.
    • Scalable Platforms: Experience with highly scalable platforms and familiarity with ASIC and FPGA implementations.
    • Deployment Architectures: Proven experience in designing network architectures for a range of environments, including:
      • Public and private cloud data centers
      • Cloud service providers
      • Service provider data centers
      • Large enterprise networks and remote offices
      • High-performance computing (HPC) and financial networks
    • Security & Cryptography: Experience with advanced cryptographic algorithms and a forward‑looking perspective on emerging technologies like post‑quantum cryptography.
    • Compliance: Knowledge of compliance requirements across various sectors, including finance, healthcare, and the public sector.
Core Competencies
  • We're looking for a leader with proven expertise in network security, scalable platforms, and diverse deployment architectures to drive our product strategy with core competencies in:
    • Go-to-Market (GTM) Leadership: A proven ability to launch new software features, craft compelling GTM strategies, and create technical content (blogs, white papers, deployment guides) for both internal teams and external customers.
    • Strategic Communication: Exceptional presentation skills and the ability to build and deliver strategic decks that clearly articulate business value to internal and external audiences.
    • Cross-functional Collaboration: A collaborative leader who can partner with engineering, customer success, and field teams to drive product adoption, manage proactive upgrade strategies, and glean insights from customer deployments.
    • Team-oriented Mindset: A knack for working seamlessly with cross-functional teams across our entire Strata portfolio (NGFW, SWFW, Prisma Access, SD-WAN, Panorama, Strata Cloud Manager) to deliver impactful networking features.
