Job description

Junior Declassification/ FOIA Analyst Location:
Crystal City, VA Firebird AST is accepting applications for an onsite Junior Declassification/FOIA Analyst to support the classification and declassification effort for the Habeas Corpus Support Contract in Crystal City, VA. Must have an active TS/SCI with CI polygraph to be considered. RESPONSIBILITIES * Perform security classification/declassification reviews for a variety of documents, i.e., reviewing classified information to identify all information that is classified and the level of classification based on the classification guidance of the DoD Component Original Classification Authorities (OCAs) or their Government representatives. Recommendations shall meet the OGC, OMC, and DoJ Standards * Conduct initial Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act (PA) reviews in support of Government agency * Analyze unclassified and classified documents to determine the appropriate action needed in accordance with 5 U.S.C. § 552, 5 U.S.C. § 552(a), and E.O. 13526 * Demonstrate understanding of document markings * Utilize analytical skills to make determinations on documents for release, referral to other agencies, and exemption from automatic declassification * Recognize possible nuclear weapons and intelligence information * Process and document FOIA and PA requests to an organization’s records * Interpret regulations, agency enforcement codes, and organizational policies regarding release of agency documents * Ensure released materials do not contain personal identifiers or directly or indirectly reveal trade secrets and other information exempted under the applicable statutes * Review completed requests for appropriateness of materials to be or not to be released * Make redactions as needed before release SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS * 3 years of experience conducting analysis relevant to all source analysis with at least a portion of the experience within the last 2 years * Experience and knowledge relating to Declassification and E.O. 13526 * Must have experience working on classified projects and proficient with safeguarding, maintaining, and the proper handling and reporting procedures affiliated with the handling of classified records * Must have the ability to perform in-depth reviews and evaluations on records using the declassification review process, provide solutions to analytical problems, be cognizant of different agencies equities, exhibit knowledge of the proper use of acronyms, and document dispositions rendered on documents reviewed * Proficiency using Microsoft Office tools; brief materials in formats including Microsoft Office tools (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) * Work independently with minimal oversight; provide thorough and completed products * Exceptional oral and written communication skills EDUCATION · Bachelor’s Degree CLEARANCE · TS/SCI with CI Poly About Firebird AST: Firebird AST is a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) based in Northern Virginia and a market-recognized leader within the IC, Department of Defense, Homeland Security, Law Enforcement, and the Private Sector.
