Job description

Company Description
Achieve is the leader in digital personal finance, helping everyday people thrive with innovative solutions like home equity and personal loans, and debt relief. We offer personalized financial solutions, blending data, technology, and an empathetic human touch to help members reach a better financial future. Our 2,300+ teammates across hubs in California, Arizona, and Texas collaborate on our mission. Since 2002, we've fostered an inclusive environment, uniting all roles under core values: Care (For Everyone), Get Better (Every Day), Act With Integrity (Every Time), and Collaborate (With Everybody).
Since 2002, Achieve has grown into one of the largest private consumer fintech unicorns in the U.S., with over $40B in enrollments for our industry-leading, tech-enabled debt resolution services business, and over $11Bn in personal and home loans originations via our banking-as-a-service partner.
Job Description
As a Senior Staff Product Designer, you'll be the design leader for two of the most consequential areas of our business: consumer acquisition and zero-to-one new product innovation.
On the acquisition side, you'll own design for the experiences that attract, compel, and convert consumers into members-spanning our unified prequalification platform across all business units (Debt Resolution, Personal Loans, Home Loans, and Multi-Product), AI-enabled and agentic acquisition flows, and a rich portfolio of partnership experiences including debt consolidation. On the innovation side, you'll lead design for our newest bets-Multi-Product, ALM (Liability Optimization), and Debt Navigator-taking ambiguous, zero-to-one concepts from whiteboard to shipped product through rapid prototyping and iteration.
You'll be part of Agile teams with Product, Engineering, QA, and Data, and you'll work directly with senior executives to shape and pressure-test product direction. Your design decisions will directly impact key growth metrics like traffic, engagement, and conversion-and define entirely new product categories for the company. This is a hands-on, high-impact, high-autonomy role for a seasoned design leader who thrives on ambiguity, moves fast, and delivers business and consumer impact.
What You'll Drive
  1. Shape the Future of Acquisition
    1. Define the future of Achieve's acquisition experiences by converting and qualifying consumers into the product portfolio through a single prequalification platform across all business units.
    2. Own the user journey by creating the first impression and nurturing users toward conversion through intuitive, trustworthy, and optimized experiences.
    3. Design AI-enabled and agentic acquisition experiences that increase funnel conversion and consumer confidence through modern UX.
    4. Grow channels efficiently by designing experiences that optimize channel mix and expand product and partner depth, including partnership and debt consolidation experiences.
  2. Lead Zero-to-One Product Innovation
    1. Drive design for new product development across our Multi-Product portfolio and comprehensive debt solutions - from ambiguous concept to shipped MVP and beyond.
    2. Move fast through rapid prototyping, concept validation, and iterative testing to bring transformational product bets to life.
    3. Partner directly with senior executives and stakeholders to shape product vision, present design direction, and iterate with minimal oversight.
    4. Connect the dots across consumer needs, market shifts, and emerging technologies to define experiences that don't yet exist.
  3. Engage and Convert Consumers
    1. Design, test, and optimize experiences that compel users to interact, learn, and pursue membership.
    2. Design, test, and optimize conversion paths that help users move from debt problem to debt solution.
  4. Turn Insights Into Outcomes
    1. Partner with Product and Data to identify opportunities, form hypotheses, and design measurable experiments that impact key business metrics.
    2. Perform qualitative and market research to deepen understanding of consumer behavior and the competitive landscape.
  5. Execute With Excellence
    1. Bring ideas to life through end-to-end design: discovery, rapid prototyping, testing, high-fidelity visuals, and production-ready specifications.
    2. Collaborate with Agile teams to ensure seamless execution and high consumer and business impact.
    3. Operate independently across multiple concurrent workstreams, prioritizing for maximum impact.
  6. Lead and Elevate Design
    1. Set the design quality bar across acquisition and new product experiences; direct and mentor contract design resources.
    2. Ensure every design decision leverages consumer insights to deliver measurable consumer and business outcomes.
    3. Contribute to and evolve the design system so it remains pragmatic, efficient, and effective in supporting high-quality user experiences at scale.

Qualifications
What You'll Bring:
  • 10+ years of experience designing and shipping impactful consumer web products in agile, cross-functional environments, including experience operating at a staff-plus or design-lead level.
  • Proven track record in both growth/conversion design and zero-to-one product innovation-you can optimize a funnel and invent a product.
  • Proven ability to drive measurable business impact through experimentation, A/B testing, and data-informed design.
  • Deep understanding of funnel metrics, behavioral analytics, and user psychology in digital growth and acquisition contexts.
  • Exceptional rapid prototyping skills and comfort with ambiguity-you make new concepts tangible quickly and iterate at speed.
  • Executive presence: experience presenting, defending, and evolving design direction with very senior stakeholders with minimal oversight.
  • Strong UX design judgment to compel and engage consumers, paired with a pragmatic sense of how to implement for efficient development and business/consumer impact.
  • High energy, strong work ethic. You are thoughtful in design but push the team toward rapid test, learn, optimize cycles.
  • Cutting edge on design, AI, and prototyping tool technology (e.g., Figma), and skilled at democratizing small/rapid design changes to free yourself for the highest-impact work.
  • Working knowledge of design and AI tools (Figma, Claude etc.).
  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Interaction Design, Graphic/Visual Design, Cognitive Science, Psychology, or a related field or another field with equivalent practical experience.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating shipped consumer products, conversion/growth work, and zero-to-one design.

Nice to Have:
  • Experience designing AI-powered, agentic, or conversational product experiences.
  • Background in financial services or regulated industries.
  • Experience with experimentation frameworks or UX research.
  • Familiarity with design system contribution and scalable component design.
  • Experience influencing cross-functional and executive strategy through design insights.
