What is deboning?

Regional Sales Engineer - Protein Processing Equipment

The David Bryant Company, inc.

Philadelphia, PA โ€ข On-site

$90K - $220K/yr

Job description

Day in the life

You start the morning walking a protein processing floor, calibrating sensors and verifying a new grinderโ€™s electrical controls. After lunch, you meet the maintenance manager to plan a preventive service, then brief corporate leaders on ROI for upgrading deboning systems. The day wraps with a service callโ€”multimeter in handโ€”troubleshooting a 480V power issue and recommending the right spare parts to keep production on track.

Role overview

This is a technical, customer-facing sales role ideal for someone moving from maintenance, field service, or industrial operations into outside sales. Prior sales experience is helpful but not requiredโ€”communication skills, customer service instincts, and hands-on aptitude matter most. You will call on meat and poultry manufacturing plants and corporate offices to sell grinding and size-reduction equipment, deboning systems, spare parts, and serviceโ€”primarily to end users.

Where youโ€™ll work
  • Location: Northeast, USA (Preferably Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio, Missouri, Indiana, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Virginia)
  • Travel: Approximately 50โ€“60% (about 110 travel days per year)
Compensation and upside
  • Base salary: $90,000โ€“$110,000
  • Performance incentive: Eligible for a bonus tied to territory growth and company performanceโ€”up to or exceeding 100% of base salary
  • Total potential earnings: $180,000โ€“$220,000 annually with no cap
  • Incentive criteria: Sales goals, travel goals, and overall company growth
What youโ€™ll do
  • Commission and start up new grinding and deboning systems in protein processing environments
  • Perform breakdowns and service maintenance; take a hands-on approach with end users
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical issues; emphasis on electrical over mechanical
  • Use a Fluke multimeter confidently; work at the sensor level (temperature, flow, pressure)
  • Navigate 480V power, pneumatics, and basic hydraulics (deep hydraulics expertise not required)
  • Troubleshoot mechanical problems as needed
  • Engage stakeholders from maintenance teams to corporate leadership
  • Drive territory growth by selling capital equipment, spare parts, and service directly to end users
Minimum qualifications
  • Technical background as a maintenance manager or field technician in protein-related environments
  • Or technical background as a maintenance manager or field technician in non-protein/industrial settings
  • Industrial sales experience
  • Experience with industrial material handling
Preferred qualifications
  • Plant production or maintenance experience (mechanical and/or electrical)
  • Sales experience with grinding and familiarity with grinding proteins
  • Sales experience with grinding or cutting applications in industrial contexts
  • Protein equipment or component sales with a preference for process over packaging
  • Technical sales of equipment or components in food (non-protein), beverage, confectionery, or bakery
Physical demands
  • Lift or carry up to 30 lbs
  • Prolonged sitting; frequent driving
  • Valid driverโ€™s license; ability to travel by car, train, and plane
  • Standing, walking, climbing
  • Bending, twisting, stooping
  • Operate tools and equipment as required
Why youโ€™ll love it here

Since 1981, our company has supported the food processing industry as a leading manufacturer of parts and service. We operate a machine shop focused on quality replacement parts, service, and training. Youโ€™ll find a strong culture, competitive pay, a full benefits package, and ample room for advancementโ€”and earnings.
