Job description

The Dual Rate - Poker & Blackjack is responsible for dealing poker and blackjack games while also performing supervisory duties to support the effective operation of both areas. This position ensures the integrity of the games, compliance with regulations, and high standards of guest service. In a supervisory capacity, the role oversees game operations, assists with promotions, and helps drive financial and operational success in the Poker and Blackjack Rooms.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Deals poker games at assigned tables, manages the pot, and collects the casino's commission (vig).
  • Deals blackjack games while seated at a table, accurately collecting losing wagers and paying out winning hands.
  • Explains poker and blackjack rules to guests and responds to questions with professionalism.
  • Maintains the integrity of playing cards and ensures compliance with table game procedures.
  • Supervises blackjack games, monitors dealer performance, and verifies payouts for accuracy.
  • Monitors all poker and blackjack games for compliance with policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Opens and closes tables as needed, ensuring readiness and organization of games.
  • Verifies jackpot wins and ensures compliance with applicable gaming laws and procedures.
  • Applies house rules and game regulations when resolving disputes or making decisions.
  • Assists with the planning, implementation, and monitoring of promotions and tournaments.
  • Coordinates Poker & Blackjack Room needs with other departments to support seamless operations.
  • Ensures adherence to all state, tribal, and federal gaming regulations, including Title 31 and the Bank Secrecy Act.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of table game operations, house rules, and departmental procedures.
  • Provides exceptional guest service and assists in training or mentoring other team members as needed.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assumes supervisory responsibilities in the absence or direction of a Floor Supervisor.
  • Monitors table activity and dealer performance to ensure service, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
  • Provides guidance and support to team members, reinforcing department policies and standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality and demonstrate high professional ethics.
  • Proficient in dealing poker and blackjack with a strong understanding of all related rules and regulations.
  • Ability to handle casino chips and currency accurately and efficiently.
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • High regard for guest service, teamwork, and professionalism.
  • Ability to communicate tactfully and diplomatically with guests and team members.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Completion of an accredited dealer school with formal training in both poker and blackjack is required.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience dealing both poker and blackjack in a regulated casino environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform dealer duties and shift into a supervisory role as needed.
  • Proficient in game rules, procedures, and customer service standards for both poker and blackjack.
  • Experience monitoring game integrity, player behavior, and table operations when acting in a supervisory capacity.
  • Strong communication, conflict resolution, and leadership skills with a focus on guest satisfaction.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a gaming license in accordance with regulatory requirements.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must have successfully completed a background check and obtained a gaming license issued by the Morongo Gaming Agency, as required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must be able to read and interpret documents in English, such as instructions, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Must also be able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, management, and guests.

  • Communication Skills: Must be able to communicate clearly, confidently, and professionally with guests, dealers, supervisors, and surveillance in person and over radio; responsible for explaining rules, resolving disputes, and ensuring compliance with game integrity standards in both dealing and supervisory capacities.
  • Lifting and Carrying: Occasionally lifts and transports chip racks, playing cards, table signage, and documentation materials weighing up to 25 pounds; may assist with table setups or tournament transitions.
  • Manual Dexterity: Continuously uses hands and fingers to shuffle and deal cards, handle chips, fill out logs, and perform precise hand movements during live games and when conducting table inspections or fills.
  • Mobility: Frequently walks the floor when acting in a supervisory capacity and stands or sits at a table for extended periods when dealing; must be able to move between tables, monitor multiple games, and respond quickly to guest or operational needs.
  • Stationary Work: Frequently remains in a fixed position (either seated or standing) for extended periods while dealing games; intermittently stationary during administrative duties while performing supervisory functions.
  • Tool Operation: Regular use of cards, chips, dealing shoes, table game accessories, radio communication devices, and supervisory tools such as fill/credit slips, logs, and rating systems.
  • Visual Acuity: Requires excellent near vision to read card values, distinguish chip denominations, track betting patterns, and monitor dealer and player behavior; must maintain high attention to detail in both dealing and supervisory roles.
  • Working Conditions: Routinely operates on the casino floor in high-traffic, guest-facing areas; exposed to loud noise, bright lights, and a smoking environment throughout gaming operations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This is a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires the ability to adapt and perform under pressure. The casino operates with moderate to loud noise levels and is a smoking environment, requiring team members to work comfortably in these conditions.
WORKING HOURS:
Morongo Casino Resort & Spa operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; therefore, flexibility in scheduling is essential. Team members must be available to work shifts that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Schedules are subject to change based on business needs and may include overtime, as well as work on both weekdays and weekends.
