Job description

RWC Group is seeking an experienced Parts Manager to lead parts operations at one of our commercial truck dealership locations. As a trusted leader in heavy-duty truck sales, service, and parts across the Western US, we're looking for a results-driven professional to drive profitability, inventory optimization, and customer satisfaction in our parts department.
You'll manage a dedicated team, oversee supplier relationships, control inventory levels, and ensure the right parts are available when our customers-from owner-operators to large fleets-need them most.
Core Responsibilities
Department Leadership & Operations
  • Direct all aspects of parts department operations to maximize ROI and profitability
  • Develop and execute the annual parts strategy, including sales forecasts, budgets, and performance targets
  • Manage inventory control, purchasing, and supplier relationships to maintain optimal stock levels and reduce carrying costs
  • Establish and monitor departmental KPIs (gross margin, inventory turns, customer satisfaction, on-time delivery)

Team Management
  • Hire, train, develop, and supervise parts department staff (counter sales, warehouse, delivery personnel)
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide coaching, and foster a culture of accountability and excellence
  • Build a high-performing team that prioritizes customer service and operational efficiency

Customer & Business Growth
  • Drive parts sales growth through both wholesale and retail channels (internal service, external customers, fleets)
  • Develop strong relationships with fleet accounts and key customers to understand their parts needs
  • Coordinate with service department to ensure seamless parts availability for repairs and maintenance
  • Identify opportunities to cross-sell, improve margins, and expand market share

Systems & Compliance
  • Utilize dealership management systems (DMS) and parts catalog software to track inventory, orders, and customer data
  • Ensure accurate inventory accounting, cycle counts, and reconciliation
  • Maintain compliance with OEM requirements and manufacturer metrics
  • Generate and analyze reports to inform decision-making and identify trends

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of parts department management experience in an automotive, heavy truck, or related commercial vehicle dealership
  • Proven leadership of parts teams with demonstrated ability to motivate and develop staff
  • Strong knowledge of heavy-duty truck parts, components, and OEM specifications
  • Proficiency with dealership management systems (DMS platforms preferred: CDK, Reynolds, PROCEDE, PartsPro, Paragon)
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills-both verbal and written-with ability to interact effectively with customers, vendors, and team members
  • High school diploma or GED (some college or vocational training preferred)
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in heavy-duty or commercial truck dealerships (Class 7 & 8 trucks)
  • Familiarity with fleet account management and wholesale parts operations
  • Knowledge of Caterpillar, Cummins, or other heavy-duty engine/powertrain components
  • Experience with inventory forecasting and demand planning tools
  • Leadership certifications or formal management training
  • Background in logistics, supply chain, or procurement
  • Bilingual capabilities (Spanish or other relevant languages)

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs throughout the shift
  • Ability to bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to operate a vehicle for extended periods
  • Work is performed indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely climb and navigate stairs, ladders, and uneven surfaces required.
  • Ability to follow navigational directions through heavy traffic and weather conditions
