What is a dealer credit manager?

Dealer Credit Managers are professionals responsible for overseeing the credit and financing activities between a company and its network of dealers or distributors. They assess creditworthiness, set credit limits, and ensure that dealers adhere to payment terms to minimize financial risk. Dealer Credit Managers also work closely with sales, finance, and legal teams to resolve disputes, collect overdue payments, and support business growth while safeguarding company assets.

How does a dealer credit manager typically collaborate with sales and finance teams to manage dealer credit risk?

As a Dealer Credit Manager, you will regularly work with both the sales and finance teams to evaluate and monitor dealer creditworthiness. This involves reviewing credit applications, analyzing financial statements, and setting appropriate credit limits. Effective communication and negotiation skills are essential, as you’ll often need to balance risk management with supporting sales growth.
