The Role: DCO Facilities Technician I

The DCO Facilities Technician I supports the daily operation and upkeep of Switch data center facilities. This role focuses on preventative maintenance, vendor escorting, and basic monitoring of critical infrastructure systems. You work within established procedures and under supervision to help maintain safe, reliable, and continuous facility operations.

This is a hands-on, shift-based role in a 24x7 data center environment.

What Youโ€™ll Do
  • Support facility operations by escorting vendors during maintenance, repairs, and build activities

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance tasks as assigned by Systems Management

  • Monitor facility systems and respond to alarms according to documented procedures

  • Complete work orders accurately and on time using required systems

  • Assist with inspections of equipment, buildings, and grounds to identify safety or reliability concerns

  • Follow all safety policies, procedures, and permit requirements

  • Attend required training, safety briefings, and team meetings

What Youโ€™ll Bring

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 1โ€“2 years of experience in a facilities, mechanical, electrical, or related technical environment

  • Basic familiarity with mechanical and electrical systems used in industrial or data center settings

  • Ability to work rotating shifts in a 24x7x365 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays

  • Ability to follow safety practices and written procedures

  • Basic computer skills, including email and work order systems

  • Clear verbal and written communication skills

Preferred

  • Technical or trade school training in mechanical, electrical, or electronics disciplines

  • Exposure to data center environments or critical facilities

  • Certifications or training such as OSHA 10, First Aid/CPR, NFPA 70E, or similar

  • Familiarity with tools such as Outlook and basic equipment operation
