Job description

Theย Dallas Children's Advocacy Centerย is seeking an experiencedย Case Coordinatorย for theย MDT Department.ย 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:ย ย 

Theย Caseย Coordinatorย is responsible forย reading statewide CPSย (child protective services)ย intakes andย facilitatingย collaborative relationships with partner and community organizations and for leading efforts to ensure a coordinated andย timelyย response to child abuse investigations.ย 

ABOUT DCAC:ย The mission of the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center is to improve the lives ofย abused children in Dallas County and to provide national leadership on child abuse issues. DCAC isย a non-profit organization and the only agency of its kind in Dallas County, working in agreement withย public and private agencies to investigate, prosecute, and provide healing services for child abuseย 
cases in Dallas County. We reduce the victimization of the child, remove barriers to investigation and treatment, andย enhance criminal prosecution with our distinctive multidisciplinary and united approach to theseย complex and severe cases, all at no cost to our clients. Each year, DCAC serves over 13,000 childrenย and their non-offending family members.ย 

We are a national and international leader in the Children's Advocacy Center movement, recognizedย 
for our expertise in the identification, investigation, and prosecution of child abuse cases; cutting edge clinical services and programs for the victims and their non-offending family members; and ourย community and professional training programs.

Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:ย 

  • Receives and reviews statewide intake referrals of abuse and neglect daily and as assigned and confirms that intakes meet the coordination criteria.ย 

  • Contacts the investigative partners, i.e., CPI (Child Protection Investigation)ย andย (LE)ย Law Enforcement to ensure connections are made with the goal of securing a forensic interview for the client.ย ย 

  • Responsible for ongoing, regular contact with partners, which includes CPI and LE, to ensure the partners are connected and working towards obtaining the forensic interview for the client.ย 

  • Buildsย relationships with investigative agencies and associated service providers via phone,ย emailย or in-personย on a monthly basis.ย 

  • Ensures allย identifiedย cases meeting the criteria are entered into theย Apricot 360 clientย database inย an accurateย andย timelyย manner.ย ย 

  • Receives and responds to crisis calls (on a rotating basis) from referral services and initiates protocol response for the CST (child sex trafficking) HRY (high riskย youth) cases.ย ย 

  • Routinely communicates with DCAC programs and supports a cohesive and collaborative client experience by offering case coordination efforts and support.ย 

  • Attends MDTย staffingsย on and off-site as requested.ย 

  • Responsible for routing the statewide intake referrals of abuse or neglect which entailsย determiningย if theย youthโ€™sย case meets the specified criteria for theย Multi-disciplinary Teamย collaborative approach.ย ย ย 

  • Worksย a rotating, on-call schedule, including nights and weekends for CST/HRY cases.ย ย 

  • Follows MDT department policies and procedures.ย 

Other Duties:ย ย ย 

  • Attendsย andย participatesย at DCACโ€™sย annual Crimes Against Children conference in the capacity of a volunteer or participant to attend classes.ย ย 

  • Participates and activelyย attendsย supervisory meetings and team meetings.ย 

  • Attendsย andย participatesย inย agency staff meetings.ย 

  • Participates inย special eventsย for children and families.ย 

  • Other duties as assigned.ย ย 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLSย 

Educationย and experience:ย ย bachelorโ€™sย degreeย inย social work, psychology, criminal justice or similar and at leastย one (1)ย year of experience in a similar role working at a child protective agency or child advocacy centerย OR an equivalent and combined knowledge, experience and skills of five (5) years working in a child advocacy center, child protection agency, or similarย in lieu of the education requirements.ย ย 

Continuing Education:ย ย 

  • Completesย Interpretation and Translation Training for DCAC Staff (requiredย for bilingual (English/Spanish) staff.ย 

  • Completes MDT (multi-disciplinary team) training through CACTX.ย 

  • Attends courses relating to child abuse and sex-traffickingย asย identifiedย on an ongoing basis.ย ย ย 

  • Completes agency-related compliance coursesย in a timely manner.ย 

Required License(s)ย or Certifications:ย ย Clear and valid Texas Driverโ€™s Licenseย 

Required Software Experience:ย MSOffice Outlook,ย SharePointย and database skills.ย 

Knowledge,ย Skills,ย and Abilities:ย ย ย 

  • Knowledge of child development and family dynamics; knowledge of sexual abuse dynamics as it relates to victims andย perpetrators.ย 

  • Ability to effectivelyย communicateย with a diverse community of stakeholders including law enforcement, CPS, the Dallas Juvenile DAโ€™s Office, Childrenโ€™s Health, DCAC staff, and clients/families.ย 

  • Effective in encouraging participation from stakeholders in the MDTย (multi-disciplinary team)ย model and coordinating a joint response to concerns of abuse/neglect/child sex trafficking andย high-riskย behavior.ย 

  • Ability to manage the exposure to graphic details of abuse/neglect/Sex Trafficking/childย fatalities.ย 

  • Ability to communicate clearly in high stakes situations with multiple partners/stakeholders for an effectiveย plan that addresses the need of the minor who may be in crisis.ย 

  • Ability to follow all investigative protocol procedures.ย 

  • Ability toย establishย and maintain professionally challenging achievement goals and exerting effort toward mastering tasks and a willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges.ย 

  • Ability toย maintainย client confidentiality.ย ย 

  • Ability to attend off-site meetings, whenย required.ย ย 

  • Ability to work with all levels of employees, board members, partners, andย community.ย 

  • Ability toย workย a rotating, on-call schedule.ย 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:ย ย 

Work Location:ย ย Allย work must be conducted in the office due to client confidentiality;ย hybridย work environment of working two (2) days remotely may be requested and evaluated after six (6) months of employment with DCAC.ย ย ย 

Mental and Physical Abilities:ย Duties are usually performed seated with occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited physical effort isย requiredย associated with lifting and carrying objects (less than 25ย lbs.).ย ย ย 

Working Conditions:ย Work may be performed but is not limited to an office environment.ย
