Job Title: General ManagerLocation: Fairfield Inn by Marriott - Chester & Richmond, Virginia

Reports To: Regional Vice President of Operations / Corporate Office

Position Overview

The General Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of hotel operations to ensure exceptional guest experiences, financial profitability, and brand compliance for the Fairfield Inn by Marriott located in Chester and Richmond, VA. This leader will provide strategic direction, manage the day-to-day operations, and develop a high-performing team that upholds the standards of Blue Sky Hospitality Solutions and Marriott International.

Key ResponsibilitiesOperations & Guest Experience
  • Oversee all daily hotel operations including front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, and breakfast service.

  • Ensure consistent delivery of Marriott brand service standards and guest satisfaction goals.

  • Maintain high cleanliness, safety, and operational standards across both locations.

  • Review guest feedback (GSS, Medallia, TripAdvisor) and implement corrective actions to improve service scores.

Financial Performance
  • Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and capital expenditure plans.

  • Drive revenue through effective pricing, yield management, and sales strategies.

  • Control operating costs and labor to achieve GOP and flow-through targets.

  • Approve payroll, invoices, and purchases per company policies.

Team Leadership & Development
  • Recruit, train, and mentor department heads and staff for both Chester and Richmond locations.

  • Conduct regular team meetings and performance reviews to ensure accountability and engagement.

  • Foster a positive, inclusive work culture that aligns with Marriott's "Spirit to Serve."

  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, company policies, and brand training programs.

Sales & Community Relations
  • Collaborate with the regional sales team to execute local sales initiatives.

  • Build relationships with key accounts, local businesses, and community organizations to increase visibility.

  • Represent the property in local tourism, chamber, and community events.

Compliance & Brand Standards
  • Ensure full compliance with all Marriott brand standards, franchise requirements, and QA audits.

  • Maintain all licenses, permits, and certifications in good standing.

  • Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local laws including OSHA, ADA, and labor regulations.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 3-5 years of hotel management experience, preferably with Marriott or other major brands.

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Knowledge of PMS, POS, and revenue management systems (e.g., FOSSE, MARSHA preferred).
