Job description

Align HCM is looking for an experienced Dayforce Solution Architect to join our growing practice. In this senior role, you will lead the architecture, design, and delivery of end-to-end Dayforce solutions for our clients that spans all core HCM modules, the Dayforce Extensibility Framework, enterprise integrations, and the emerging suite of Dayforce AI-powered capabilities. You will serve as the primary technical authority on complex client engagements, bridging business requirements and scalable technology solutions while championing best practices, mentoring teammates, and driving innovation through AI and modern tooling.
Primary Duties and Key Responsibilities
  • Own the architecture of Dayforce solutions across the full project lifecycle, from opportunity and requirements gathering through design, configuration, testing, data conversion, integration, and go-live.
  • Interpret client business objectives and translate them into actionable solution designs, effort estimates, and cost proposals that result in signed contracts.
  • Design custom extensibility solutions using the Dayforce Extensibility Framework, including custom WFM rules, scripting, and bespoke configuration to address complex client calculation and workflow requirements.
  • Design and develop modern integrations through APIs, RESTful services, SOAP, Event Services, Microservices, and iPaaS platforms such as Dell Boomi, enabling seamless data flows between Dayforce and third-party systems.
  • Lead solutioning for Dayforce AI modules, including AI-assisted scheduling, predictive analytics, intelligent document processing, and generative AI features by advising clients on use cases, readiness, configuration, and governance best practices.
  • Leverage generative AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT) and AI-assisted development environments to accelerate solution design, documentation, code generation, and quality assurance activities.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for clients post-contract signing, leading status calls, resolving developer questions, and guiding user story creation through the delivery phase.
  • Offer best-practice recommendations on custom solutions and integrations as well as standard Dayforce product functionality, educating clients on the full spectrum of configurable and customizable options available to them.
  • At the opportunity stage, collaborate with clients and Align HCM business development leadership to understand requirements, assess feasibility, and prepare and deliver compelling solution presentations and demonstrations.
  • Collaborate with implementation teams to ensure overall solution architecture is sound and proposed designs meet requirements and expectations established during the selection process.
  • Lead design and peer reviews, individual and team unit testing, and client QA/UAT support activities, ensuring rigorous quality standards throughout delivery.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive solution documentation, including design specifications, implementation instructions, data dictionaries, integration maps, and knowledge transfer materials for both internal teams and clients.
  • Mentor junior and intermediate consultants, helping to set the direction for the Dayforce practice, share knowledge, and build internal capability across the team.
  • Collaborate with Dayforce product teams to identify product gaps, surface client opportunities, and contribute to ongoing process improvement within the broader ecosystem.
  • Build strong, trust-based partnerships with clients by demonstrating deep technical expertise, a proactive attitude, and a consistent commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on Dayforce solution architecture experience, with broad functional knowledge across multiple Dayforce modules (Payroll, Benefits, Time & Attendance, Workforce Management, Recruiting, Onboarding, and/or Learning).
  • Expert understanding of the Dayforce Extensibility Framework and how Dayforce interacts with third-party systems, including deep knowledge of data flow implications to and from the platform.
  • 3+ years of experience designing, coding, testing, and documenting modern APIs and middleware, with proficiency in RESTful services, SOAP, Event Services, and/or Microservices architectures.
  • Demonstrated experience solutioning for Dayforce AI modules, including familiarity with AI-assisted scheduling, predictive workforce analytics, intelligent automation features, and the governance and data readiness considerations they require.
  • Active comfort and proven experience using generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, GitHub Copilot, or similar) in day-to-day professional work-for solution design, code generation, documentation, or analysis-and a genuine enthusiasm for staying current as the AI landscape evolves.
  • Canada and US domain knowledge, including back-office payroll and compliance implications; ability to build global domain knowledge across other regions as the practice expands.
  • Strong consulting, analytical, and problem-solving skills with experience navigating difficult conversations with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Coaching and/or mentoring experience with the ability to exercise leadership through superior technical and domain knowledge.
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Solution-oriented approach with a proactive, "make it happen" attitude and the ability to work effectively through ambiguity and competing priorities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a closely related field; or equivalent professional experience.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to client sites as needed.

Nice to Have
  • Hands-on experience with Integration Studio, Dell Boomi or a comparable iPaaS integration platform.
  • Proficiency with SQL and relational database concepts; familiarity with API-led architecture and development.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and data pipeline tooling.
  • Experience with AI prompt engineering, fine-tuning workflows, or integrating AI/ML models into enterprise HCM or business process contexts.
  • Proficiency in Python or scripting languages for integration, automation, or data processing tasks.

Why Align HCM?
