Job description

POSTING NUMBER: N305-2627

POSITION:       Early Childhood Educator (ECE) - 2026-27 School Year Talent Pool


LOCATIONS:  Districtwide - Various Schools

REPORTS TO:  School Principal

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implements readiness classroom program of students ages 3 and 4 in a full-day readiness pre-kindergarten program.
  • Assists in the overall effective management and coordination of the daycare program.
  • Assists in the activities of program planning, implementation, and ongoing need assessment.
  • Assists in the development of the curriculum. Assists in facilitating communication between school and parents.
  • Assists in toileting participants. Perform other related duties as by supervisor or designee.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Study, Child Development or Human Growth and Development; (Bachelor’s degree without a concentration in early childhood education must have 12 early childhood credits from an institution of higher education that is regionally accredited).
  • Experience working in a similar setting preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.    
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a diverse community.
  • Develop and maintain favorable relationships with administration, staff and parents.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills desirable.
  • Must be willing to participate in in-service training and staff meetings as required.     
  • College Transcripts must be uploaded along with application. Failure to do so will disqualify the candidate.


SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary in accordance with Hartford Federation of Child Development Associates 2025-2026 Salary Grid S273: ($42,245-$44,832). Ten-month position. 

UNION AFFILIATION: Federation of Child Development Associates (CDA)
