Job description

Electrical Engineer needed for a Direct Hire opportunity with SOC's client to work onsite in Indian Head, MD. *Candidates must have an active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain one to be considered for this role. Our client is a research and consulting firm that provides a wide range of support to federal, state, and commercial clients. They offer multidisciplinary teams with nationally recognized skills in engineering, science, economics, public health, informational technology, and communications. The qualified individual must be highly motivated with the skills to prioritize, perform, and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment. We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to independently develop electrical designs for renovations and upgrades to existing buildings and power distribution systems at a federal site in Indian Head, Maryland. Job Description: * Primarily requires development of requirements and technical review of design packages as well as occasional design work. * Prepare design packages (including electrical design drawings, specifications, and cost estimates) for renovation projects such as replacement and installation of HVAC, electrical power service, emergency generator, surge suppression, lightning protection, grounding, bonding, control systems, and telecommunications systems. * Conduct technical reviews of design packages created by others to assess compliance with applicable Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), electrical codes, and regulations, as well as end-user requirements. * Provide technical input to proposal development for renovation projects. * Support design process from concept through delivery of completed design package. * Prepare technical memoranda/reports that summarize information, such as requirements or the basis of design. * Collaborate and communicate effectively with other stakeholders, internal and external, and the design team (e.g., engineering department, manufacturing department). * Serve as a project manager and/or design manager on some assigned projects. Qualifications and Skills: * A Professional Engineer (PE) License is preferred but not required * A minimum of 8 years experience required; 10+ years is preferred * At least five years of experience with designing electrical power systems for new or upgraded buildings * Experience with the design of energetics-related safety systems (e.g., bonding & grounding, lightning protection systems) is preferred but not required * Must be fluent in NFPA 70 NEC * Experience working with AutoCAD and SolidWorks * Ability to prioritize, perform, and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment * Must currently hold or be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret-level security clearance; Must be a U.S. citizen as this position is not eligible for Limited Access Authorizations Employment Prerequisites The following requirements must be met to be eligible for this position: successful completion of a background investigation and d rug urinalysis.
