Summary
Northern Trust Asset Management is a multi-asset class investment manager offering a broad range of investment solutions. The primary focus of this role will be to provide expert support the Portfolio Management teams in the overall management of their accounts and to provide dedicated "front line" support to allow them to focus on Investment Management and Trade Execution. Functions will include Trade Monitoring, Cash Monitoring, Position Monitoring, Counterparty and Venue Management, Account Setup and Maintenance, Corporate Actions Input and Responses, Exception Resolution, Performance Attribution Reporting, Custody FX instruction, Transaction Cost chargeback.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary day-to-day support contact for assigned Portfolio Management teams.
  • Perform daily validation of positions, market values, cash balances, and exposures; investigate breaks and coordinate resolution with Reconciliation, Custody, and accounting teams.
  • Monitor trades from execution through confirmation, settlement, and downstream reporting; proactively resolve exceptions with internal and external counterparties.
  • Act as a liaison between Front Office, middle/back-office teams, vendors, and outsourced partners to resolve data, process, and lifecycle issues.
  • Support onboarding and maintenance of new accounts, strategies, and instruments across investment platforms, coordinating with New Account Setup and Technology teams.
  • Manage corporate action elections, lifecycle events, and instrument-specific processing (including derivatives and OTC products where applicable).
  • Support counterparty, venue, and broker relationships, including setup, entitlements, and ongoing operational readiness.
  • Assist with performance and attribution reviews, ad-hoc analysis, and client or internal data requests.
  • Generate and deliver Transaction Cost Chargeback (TCC) and ETF P&L breakdowns, partnering with Portfolio Management and Trading to explain drivers, reconcile variances, and support investment and execution reviews.
  • Contribute process improvements, automation initiatives, and control enhancements to reduce operational risk and improve scalability.
  • Partner with global teammates across North America, EMEA, and APAC to provide consistent coverage and knowledge sharing.

Necessary Skills & Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of relevant asset management/financial services experience, preferably in investment operations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate complex data and process issues.
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills; comfortable interacting with senior investment stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of securities markets and the investment lifecycle across equities, fixed income, FX, futures, and derivatives.
  • Working knowledge of trade execution, confirmation, settlement, and reconciliation processes.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with data analysis and reporting.
  • Familiarity with corporate actions and instrument lifecycle events.
  • Experience with investment and market data platforms such as Aladdin by BlackRock, Bloomberg, FXall, Perform, IHS Markit/S&P, and internal NT systems (e.g. TCC, IIP) strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining strong attention to detail.

Salary Range:
$74,200 - 126,200 USD
Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
