Day Support Professional (DSP)Location: 241 Greenhouse Road, Lexington, VA Employer: Rockbridge Area Community Services (RACS)Position Overview:As a DSP, you will be responsible for assisting the Day Support Program Manager with planning, development, and implementation of programming in the Day Support Program. You will be responsible for the evaluation, supervision, training and instructing of Day Support participants. You will report to the Day Support Program Manager. You must be able to work independently, demonstrate initiative, critical thinking, and problem solve behavioral issues and identify and respond to emergency situations.Essential Work Performance Areas:Communicates effectively, both orally and in writingWorks well as part of a team (e.g., respects others' opinions, shares workload as appropriate, demonstrates flexibility)Projects positive attitude toward program participants, staff, and other agencies; treats program participants, staff, and other agencies in a caring and respectful fashion; mindful of individual, cultural and ethnic differencesMaintains appropriate professional boundaries (e.g., with program participants, other staff, agencies, etc.) Displays enthusiasm, motivation, and takes initiativeActively participates in supervision; utilizes supervision appropriately; is responsive to constructive feedback; consults with supervisor as necessary when crises or situations beyond the norm ariseDemonstrates openness and willingness to change; initiates change when necessary; encourages others to accept changePerform other duties as assigned, to include assignments/duties at other sites, inclusive of Day Support and Day Support Group Homes, as directed by the Program Supervisor/Unit Director, consistent with Rockbridge Area Community Services' policies, procedures and missionQualifications:Experience working with adults that have developmental disabilities; or Possess the life experience/skills and knowledge to successfully perform position requirementsStrong communication, documentation, and organizational skillsEnergetic, positive, enthusiastic, and adaptable problem solverMust be able to lift 50 poundsValid driver's license and safe driving record in accordance with RACS policies are requiredWhy Join RACS?Rockbridge Area Community Services strives to impact our local community through innovative behavioral health, substance use, and developmental services.
