AspectDay Shift Robotics SimulatorDay Shift Robotics Technician
Required CredentialsTechnical certifications, programming skillsTechnical certifications, troubleshooting skills
Work EnvironmentLaboratory or simulation labs, office settingsManufacturing floors, industrial settings
Employer & Industry UsageRobotics companies, research labsManufacturing plants, automation companies
Common Search & Comparison IntentUnderstanding simulation roles vs hands-on roles

The Day Shift Robotics Simulator focuses on virtual training and programming of robots in controlled environments, while the Day Shift Robotics Technician involves hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of robotic systems in industrial settings. Both roles require technical certifications but differ mainly in practical versus simulation-based work environments.

What are Day Shift Robotics Simulators?

Day Shift Robotics Simulators are professionals who operate and oversee the use of robotic simulation software or equipment during daytime working hours. They ensure that robotic systems are tested, programmed, and optimized in a virtual environment before implementation on the production floor. This role is crucial for identifying issues, improving efficiency, and reducing real-world risks or downtime. Day Shift Robotics Simulators often collaborate with engineers and technicians to update simulation parameters and analyze performance data.

What are three jobs that robots already do?

Robots are commonly used in manufacturing for tasks such as assembly line work, welding, and packaging. They improve efficiency and safety in environments that require repetitive or hazardous tasks. These roles often involve programming and maintenance skills for effective operation.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Day Shift Robotics Simulator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Day Shift Robotics Simulator, you need a solid background in robotics, automation, and computer science, often supported by a relevant degree or technical certification. Familiarity with simulation software, robotic programming languages (such as ROS or Python), and industrial control systems is typically required. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication help you interpret simulation results and collaborate with engineering teams. These abilities ensure accurate testing, troubleshooting, and optimization of robotic systems for efficient day shift operations.

What job is most likely to be taken over by robots?

Robotics simulators like the Day Shift Robotics Simulator are used to train and test automation systems, but jobs most at risk of automation include repetitive manufacturing roles, assembly line workers, and basic data entry positions. These jobs involve routine tasks that can be efficiently performed by robots with programming and sensor technology.

Job description

About Mytra:
We're creating an entirely new way to solve the most ubiquitous problem in industry - moving and storing material. We're applying robotics and distributed software to create a new class of product for this $1T market. We're focused on the supply chain industry first. The industry is in a massive bind with the continued growth of e-commerce, sharp rise in costs, and supply chain disruptions. What has been a "sleepy" industry for decades is now at the epicenter of sustaining the global economy.
About the role:
We seek a Senior/Staff Simulation Engineer to build and own the simulation platform for the entire robotics software stack. This simulation system must accurately model our structured-grid robots, distributed control, and coordinated multi-axis motion while remaining easy to use.
You will design core frameworks, tools, and models to enable rapid testing of firmware, controls, planning, and full robot behaviors. You will establish the architecture, integrate simulation with developer workflows and CI systems, and accelerate prototyping and validation. This is a high-impact senior technical role.
This role is fundamentally about building a scalable simulation platform and developer-facing tools. You'll focus on creating reliable abstractions, workflows, and frameworks that help engineers ship faster across the entire robotics stack.
Responsibilities
  • Architect and implement the core simulation platform, including robot mobility, multi-axis motion, and subsystem behaviors.
  • Integrate our robotics software with simulation environments, spanning build systems, libraries, and large-scale codebases.
  • Develop lightweight, functional models for distributed microcontrollers, communication interfaces, and timing, with a focus on enabling practical system-level testing.
  • Build and deliver simulation tools as reliable products for developers and CI/CD, supporting uses from rapid prototyping workflows to headless regression testing.
  • Create reusable infrastructure for subsystem and full-robot testing, including hybrid configurations that combine HIL and SIL components.
  • Collaborate closely with robotics, firmware, controls, and planning teams to ensure simulation reflects real-world system behavior.
  • Define best practices, extensibility patterns, and integration workflows that make the simulation environment easy to adopt and evolve.
  • Evaluate simulation technologies and steer long-term technical direction.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of industry experience
  • Extensive experience building simulation systems for complex embedded platforms.
  • Strong proficiency in C++ and Python (for both performance and tooling).
  • Strength in platform/tool-building: APIs, frameworks, developer workflows, or similar.
  • Experience integrating simulation into workflows, automated testing, and CI/CD.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across engineering domains and drive technical alignment.
  • Track record of delivering production-ready tools/platforms for internal engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience modeling distributed embedded systems or multi-controller communication architectures.
  • Background with SIL/HIL or hybrid real/sim test environments.
  • Prior technical mentorship or architectural leadership experience.
  • Hands-on experience with modern robotics/physics simulation environments (e.g., Gazebo/Ignition, Isaac Sim/Omniverse, Unity, Unreal, MuJoCo, Webots).

A Final Note:
If this role excites you, we encourage you to apply - even if you don't check every box. At Mytra, we build bots, but we hire humans. We value thoughtful challengers who communicate with clarity and respect, and we're lifelong learners committed to getting better every day. We move fast, learn faster, and show up for each other under pressure. The best outcomes come from diverse perspectives working together to build something meaningful and built to last.
Benefits Include:
  • Competitive compensation and equity grants at a high-growth company backed by top-tier VCs
  • Fully subsidized health coverage, including medical (baseline plans), dental, and vision for employees and dependents
  • 401(k) plans and employer-subsidized life insurance
  • Fully subsidized lunch and snacks at HQ-we eat and share stories together at the "long" table
  • Generous PTO and company-paid holidays, including one week over the winter break so everyone can recharge together
  • Voluntary pet insurance, Voluntary Life Insurance, Accident, Critical Illness, and Hospital Indemnity
  • Fully subsidized tax advisory services and education to help you understand your equity
  • Commuter benefits, including a up to $150 monthly commuter benefit
  • Lively, modern combined office and lab space where we rapidly iterate through design, build, and test phases
  • Fully equipped onsite gym and showers at headquarters

Pay Notice:
Compensation for this position will be set based on the candidate's experience level and location. The posted salary band is applicable only to the San Francisco Bay Area and is subject to change.
This role requires on-site presence at our Brisbane, CA headquarters, for close collaboration with the other teams.
The pay range for this role is:
190,000 - 200,000 USD per year (Mytra, Inc.)
