Job description

Overview

As a Field Application Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in delivering Boston Dynamics robotic solutions to our customers, ensuring their seamless integration and operational success. You will travel up to 50% to customer sites and supervise site‑level solution architecture, commissioning, and performance of Boston Dynamics robotic systems.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate closely with customers to align system capabilities with operational needs and design site‑specific solutions.
  • Oversee site‑level solution architecture, commissioning, and performance of Boston Dynamics robotic systems.
  • Implement scalable solutions for individual integrations and growth of customer accounts, and manage network infrastructure and configuration.
  • Monitor system performance, resolve technical issues through advanced troubleshooting, and provide comprehensive customer training and support.
  • Lead technical projects that enhance integration efficiency, standardize processes, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Support early‑stage testing and integration of new Boston Dynamics products.
  • Gather, systematize, and convey customer feedback to internal teams to champion product enhancements.
  • Develop SOWs, customer solution documents, interface control documents, and integration scoping documents.
  • Serve as primary escalation point for complex field support issues and optimize integrations.
  • Conduct in‑depth operational troubleshooting and repairs, performing root‑cause analysis and coordinating with engineering to implement permanent fixes.
  • Act as product expert for Boston Dynamics' full product stack and support customers and team members with advanced technical insights.
  • Oversee hardware and software validation, ensuring pre‑shipment systems are optimized for integration.
  • Develop technical tools and solutions using APIs/SDKs to streamline customer integrations.
  • Provide advanced technical support and training for customer and partner development teams.
  • Act as primary technical contact for customers, addressing needs, resolving concerns, and driving application success.
  • Participate in go‑to‑market activities for new products and technologies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, System Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience or an advanced degree without experience, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven track record in senior‑level Field Applications Engineering, Solution Architecture, or System Design roles, with experience leading complex integrations.
  • Experience collaborating directly with customers on advanced technical solutions and managing long‑term relationships.
  • Expertise in planning, managing, and executing multi‑site or complex integrations of Boston Dynamics products, including both hardware and software systems.
  • Ability to lead discussions and convey highly technical concepts to diverse audiences, including executive stakeholders, technical teams, and non‑technical teams.
Nice to Have
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or comparable software applications.
  • Advanced knowledge of networking protocols, devices, and network security (routers, switches, firewalls, VLANs, VPNs).
  • Proficiency in Linux operating systems (Ubuntu) and scripting for system management and automation.
  • Proficiency in Python, C++, Typescript, Kotlin, or other modern programming languages, with a strong focus on software development for robotics or automation.
Travel
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 50% of the time.
  • Ability to utilize personal credit cards for travel expenses, with subsequent reimbursement.
Compensation

The pay range for this position is between $88,603.82 and $121,830.26 annually. Base pay will depend on individualized factors including, but not limited to, internal equity and job‑related knowledge, skills and experience.
