Job description

Do You Have Real Estate Accounting Experience? Come Run The Corporate Books Behind Our Growing Property Management Company!

We are hiring a Corporate Accountant!

GC Realty & Development has spent 23 years growing a property management and brokerage company, and the corporate books have grown right along with it. We manage roughly 1,500 units for 500+ private investors across more than 100 Chicagoland suburbs, and none of that works if the corporate books do not close clean every month. This seat owns the company side of that, not the property level accounting and will work out of our office Monday-Friday in Roselle.

You will own the corporate general ledger in QuickBooks Online, run weekly payroll through Gusto, manage assigned corporate bank accounts, and keep corporate accounts payable current. You will report to the Director of Finance and work alongside the Staff Accountant on intercompany netting at month end. QuickBooks Online and weekly payroll are what you need on day one.

What You Get:

  • Salary: $60,000 to $80,000 per year, based on experience, plus a 5% annual performance bonus opportunity
  • Book Club: Company funded reading program worth up to $500 per year
  • Referral Program: Refer a hired team member and receive a $1,000 bonus
  • Paid Time Off: 2 weeks PTO in your first year
  • Paid Birthday: Take a paid day off during your birthday month
  • Paid Holidays: 7 paid holidays recognized annually
  • Health Coverage: Health, dental, and vision
  • Additional Benefits: Optional life, AD&D, disability, critical illness, accident, and Healthcare FSA with employer premium assistance

What You'll Do:

  • Own The Corporate Ledger: Manage the corporate general ledger in QuickBooks Online, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and analysis.
  • Run Weekly Payroll: Gather, submit, and pay the weekly Gusto payroll cycle, clear new hire onboarding approvals, and keep employee records accurate.
  • Manage Corporate Cash: Own assigned corporate bank balances, including Operating, Enterprise, and Brokerage Escrow accounts, and reconcile corporate credit cards.
  • Keep AP Current: Maintain corporate accounts payable in QuickBooks Online and resolve unreconciled amounts on a timely basis.
  • Support Month End Close: Prepare schedules for internal financial reporting, keep payroll and cash items current on the close calendar, and support intercompany netting with the Staff Accountant.
  • Track Brokerage Accruals: Manage brokerage commission income accruals and reversals, and support Brokermint payout reconciliation as directed.
  • Coordinate Benefits And Vendors: Handle benefits deductions, corrections, and vendor follow up, and support related contractor or supplemental pay platforms as directed.
  • Strengthen The Process: Document and maintain processes for your seat so short absences can be covered, and help implement stronger accounting practices and internal controls.
What You'll Bring:
  • QuickBooks Online Experience: Solid, hands on knowledge of QuickBooks Online, including bank reconciliations, accounts payable, and journal entries.
  • Payroll Proof: 3+ years of corporate or staff accounting experience with QuickBooks Online and payroll. Gusto or similar payroll experience is a plus.
  • Education: Associates degree or equivalent in Business, Accounting, or Finance required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Business Acumen: Understanding of profit and loss, balance sheets, and cash flow management, ideally in property management or real estate.
  • Sharp Attention To Detail: You rarely make unforced errors, and you are thorough with every task, even under a weekly payroll deadline.
  • Comfort With Pressure: You stay calm and organized in a fast paced environment where priorities shift and deadlines do not move.
  • A Plus, Not A Requirement: AppFolio and Podio knowledge are helpful and will be trained if needed.
The GC Realty Experience

At GC Realty & Development, LLC, we deliver an experience created four core values:

  • Responsive: We show up and communicate, every time
  • Own It: We take full responsibility and see things through
  • Get Stuff Done (GSD): We move fast and we finish what we start
