Purpose of this position

The Behavioral Support Specialist assists the Meaningful Day Program Supervisor in achieving short term and long term goals for assigned clients, as identified in their PCP or BMP. Provides 1:1 support to assigned clients. Assists with personal care as needed.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in design and evaluation of Person centered plan(PCP)
  • Implement methods designed to reach desired goals
  • Support and encourage community membership
  • Support employment goals as part of the Employment First model
  • Maintain adequate records and documentation of clients assigned
  • Participate in team meetings as requested
  • May be required to transport assigned consumers to and from services provided offsite
  • Provide training and assistance with personal care needs.
  • Other duties as assigned


Requirements

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Non-Profit Agencies and the Developmentally Disabled
  • Able to pass CMT certification within 6 months of hire
  • One year experience working in Human Services Field or current CNA/GNA certification
  • Excellent organization skills, accuracy, dependable work habits and good communication skills
  • Skills and Essential Functions
  • Ability to define problems, gather data, establish facts and draw conclusions, and make sound judgments, decisions and seek guidance when necessary
  • Ability to be flexible and creative in meeting the needs of our Community
  • Ability to represent LSE in a professional manner
  • Ability to speak articulately one on one or in small groups
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written communication
  • Must pass the Intro to DD training and BPS within three months of employment
  • First Aid and CPR-certified
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods

Hours

  • Monday through Friday - 9:30 am until 3:30 pm
