Job Title: Inspector 1-5

Classification: Non-Exempt – Department 1000 – Seasonal

Reports To: Management Team

Wage: $19.48 – $21.92 Hourly


Job Summary

This position ensures the inspection quality of Grapes for Wine and By-Products through thorough assessment and analyses using specific procedural standards for integrity. This job requires work to be performed in a semi-enclosed elevated structure. While performing the duties of the job, there may be exposure to any number of elements present in an outdoor environment but with none present to the extent of being disagreeable.


Primary Responsibility and DutiesEssential Functions

  1. Technical Capacity
    1. Utilize standard mechanical and electrical instruments including computers.
  2. Thoroughness
    1. Process associated documentation, including inspection documents and compliance reports.
    2. Ensure accuracy and quality specifications.
    3. Continuous mental and visual attention required.
  3. Organizational Skills
    1. Complete inspection and documentation accurately and efficiently to meet production goals.
    2. Possess effective communication and the ability to follow instructions.
  4. Personal Effectiveness/Credibility

    2. Be flexible, punctual, and dependable.
    3. Be available to work day, night, weekend, and/or Holiday shifts (as stated on Conditional Offer).
    4. Maintain a clean and safe work area.

    1. Ability to work with or without direct supervision in accordance with laws, instructions and techniques.
  6. All Other Duties as Assigned

Physical Demands
  • Climbing stairs.
  • Constant standing.
  • Constant repetitive use of both hands for grasping and fine manipulation.

  • Reaching overhead.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
  • Full-time seasonal position (hours of work and days vary).
  • Eligible for overtime pay (non-exempt according to the Fair Labor Standards Act).
  • Length of service is relative to the grape harvest.


Required Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • A minimum of three months of related agricultural experience.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Intermediate written communication and mathematical skills.
  • General safety knowledge.
Substitute Eligibility Qualifications
  • Completion or Enrollment in 12 semester units may be substituted for 3 months agricultural experience.
  • A minimum of 3 months seasonal employment may be substituted for 3 months agricultural experience.
