Job Summary: The Plant Manager at our Youngstown, Ohio facility is responsible for leading day-to-day plant operations to achieve corporate goals through strong execution of our mission and vision. The Plant Manager is accountable for overall plant performance, including achieving near- and long-term KPIs and business objectives in a cost-effective way while ensuring strict alignment with health & safety, quality, and environmental requirements.

This role provides leadership through delegation to production and key supervisors, while also owning accountability for the facility operating in a safe, clean, and responsible manner consistent with company policies and procedures.

Some of What You Will Do:

Key Responsibilities:

Functional Leadership & Operational Excellence

  • Lead plant operations to deliver performance across safety, quality, productivity, delivery, and cost
  • Establish operating rhythms (daily/weekly/monthly) to monitor performance and drive corrective actions
  • Partner with shared services leaders including Quality, EH&S, Planning/Scheduling, Warranty, Customer Service, and Design to support both tactical execution and long-term strategy
  • Lead and coordinate internal and third-party resources for facility maintenance and uptime

Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S)

  • Execute company EH&S policies, procedures, training, and practices
  • Establish routine practices to support compliance with OSHA and all applicable standards
  • Maintain facility security and enforce responsible site practices

Lean Six Sigma / Continuous Improvement

  • Drive continuous improvement using Lean and Six Sigma methods
  • Deliver measurable improvements in:
    • Throughput & labor utilization via lean/six sigma execution and daily problem-solving
    • Material utilization & variance reduction through targeted improvement initiatives
  • Participate in and support PMO (Project Management Office) activities and improvement governance

Production Planning & Customer Delivery

  • Execute the plant production plan and meet/exceed order fulfillment demands aligned with Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Ensure quality criteria are consistently met throughout production processes
  • Oversee facility, plant, and equipment maintenance to minimize downtime

Budgeting & Financial Accountability

  • Own and manage the facility expense budget
  • Prepare, submit, and manage Capital Expenditure Requests / Projects (CERs) with measurable ROI
  • Drive Variable Cost Productivity (VCP) and Base Cost Productivity (BCP) initiatives by defining goals, tracking performance, and delivering results through completion

Talent Management / People Leadership

  • Perform HR-related responsibilities aligned with company processes, including:
    • Salary administration and performance review processes based on annual headcount planning/budget
    • Staffing leadership: identify staffing needs, interview and recommend direct/indirect hires, and ensure cross-training readiness
    • Maintain an engaged and inclusive culture with proactive issue resolution
    • Support employee relations by partnering with HR to uphold company policies, procedures, and applicable laws
    • Build and maintain long-term succession plans and provide training/coaching to planned successors

What You Bring to the Table:

Qualifications Required

10+ years of experience in a manufacturing and/or engineering environment, including:

    • 5+ years managing capital expenditures
    • 5+ years using Lean Six Sigma tools and methods
    • 3+ years’ experience in a manufacturing plant leadership capacity
  • Bachelor’s degree or technical degree (Engineering preferred)
  • Lean Manufacturing experience (Six Sigma Green/Black Belt preferred)
  • Knowledge of basic accounting/finance principles and budgeting
  • Strong understanding of safety, quality, productivity, inventory, and employee relations
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • lead people and create accountability
    • make decisions and lead by example
    • read and interpret business reports, metrics, and KPIs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to represent the company with employees, vendors, and customers
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

Physical Requirements (as applicable to role)

  • Regularly required to talk/hear
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, bend, use hands/fingers/reach, and sit for prolonged periods
  • Ability to lift to 20 pounds or more

Travel

  • Less than 10% of travel with occasional overnights

  • Experience driving site-level improvements through daily management systems and structured problem-solving

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across US geographic markets.  Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, knowledge, skills, education, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
