Job Title: Histotechnologist
Location: 1600 E. Broadway, Columbia, MO 65201
Contract Type: 13-Week Travel Assignment
Job Type: Full-Time, Contract
Shift: Days – 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM (majority), with flexibility to work 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM or 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM
Weekly Hours: 40
Start Date: July 7, 2025
Bill Rate: $57.00/hour (All-Inclusive)
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours/week
Weekly Gross: $2280/week : ($1200/week on w2 + $1080 non-taxable stipends)

Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Histotechnologist for a full-time, 13-week assignment within its Laboratory Services team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of one year of hands-on experience working with human tissue in a high-paced clinical laboratory environment. This position offers consistent day shifts and requires proficiency in a range of histology techniques and equipment.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine histologic procedures including tissue embedding, microtomy, and manual staining.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation and equipment such as:
    • TissueTek Cover Slipper/Stainer
    • Sakura VIP 6 AI Tissue Processor
    • Benchmark Ultra Stainer (experience with this is a strong plus)
  • Ensure accurate preparation of tissue samples for microscopic examination.
  • Work collaboratively within a small team in a fast-paced clinical setting.
  • Follow laboratory policies, procedures, and quality control standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of specimens and testing processes in accordance with compliance requirements.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory and supply levels in the histology lab.
  • Support the laboratory’s commitment to safety, confidentiality, and quality assurance.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Histotechnologist or Histotechnician working with human tissue.
  • Proficiency in embedding, microtomy, and manual staining required.
  • Experience using Meditech EMR is preferred.
  • Must be able to adapt to flexible start times and maintain a dependable work schedule.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Certification Requirements:

  • HT (Histotechnician) or HTL (Histotechnologist) certification
  • Certification through ASCP or AMT accepted
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required

Additional Details:

  • State License: Not required
  • Holiday Coverage: Not required
  • On-Call Pay: $5/hour pager pay | Call-back minimum 2 hours at All-Inclusive Rate + $10
  • Overtime: Paid at All-Inclusive Rate + $10 after 40 hours/week
