Our client is seeking a Functional Safety Engineer to join their team. As a Functional Safety Engineer, you will be part of the Safety and Reliability Department supporting cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, proactive communication, and a collaborative mindset, which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Functional Safety Engineer

Location: San Jose, CA (Onsite)

What's the Job?

  • Identify hazards and risks using Systems Theoretic Process Analysis (STPA) to ensure safety compliance
  • Support the definition of safety requirements throughout the product development lifecycle
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate safety measures into design, development, verification, and validation processes
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements for autonomous systems
  • Contribute to safety documentation and support safety audits and reviews

What's Needed?

  • Minimum of 4+ years of experience in safety engineering, systems analysis, or related fields
  • Experience with hazard analysis methodologies such as STPA or similar techniques
  • Knowledge of industry safety standards relevant to autonomous vehicles or robotics
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
