Position Summary & Description THIS POSITION IS POSTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE AFSCME COLLECTIVE BARGAINING UNIT SUMMARY: This is routine manual work involving the maintenance of cleanliness and safety in state-operated facilities, buildings, and grounds.

Employees perform a variety of standard or aseptic cleaning and sanitation tasks and work independently to complete the assigned day-to-day custodial duties. Work is subject to inspection while in progress or upon completion for adherence to established standards of cleanliness. Detailed supervisory guidance and review is provided for new or unusual situations and changes in operating procedures.

Review the PA Specifications for this Job Title. The above duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification.

Other duties may be required and assigned. Essential Duties: Utilize tools and equipment of the custodial trade in the performance of cleaning tasks. Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, wax, and buff floors.

Clean, dust, and polish furniture and fixtures. Wash and clean windows, walls, and doors. Clean toilets, sinks, and mirrors in restrooms; replace restroom supplies.

Gather and dispose of waste products, recyclable materials, infectious waste, and hazardous materials according to safe material handling guidelines. Move furniture and equipment when necessary to perform custodial tasks. Secure and maintain cleaning equipment; request, pick up, and store related supplies.

Report needed repairs to crew leader or supervisor. Shovel snow; sweep and clean walkways; assist in keeping immediate outside premises and building entrances in an orderly condition. Perform incidental assignments, such as removing ashes, and making simple repairs.

Document work performed. Perform related work as required. WORK SCHEDULE: Monday to Friday 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM Position Qualifications MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: No previous experience and training required.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Candidates must communicate effectively and perform well in the interview(s). Candidates must have communication skills and cross-cultural abilities to maximize their effectiveness with diverse groups of students, colleagues, and community members. The salary for this position is determined by the AFSCME Collective Bargaining Agreement.
