Job Description:

As an Emerge Labs Principal Infrastructure Specialist, the work you'll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of our Federal, Intelligence and Defense customers. You will play a crucial role in supporting GDIT's ability to conduct internal research and development (IR&D) building Digital Accelerators, Platforms and Mission Solutions within Emerge Labs. Emerge Labs is a multi-tenant, hybrid, multi-cloud lab environment with physical datacenter spaces located at our Falls Church, VA Headquarters campus. In this role, you will:

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
Lead the day-to-day engineering, operations, and maintenance of GDIT's Emerge Labs physical datacenters located in Falls Church, VA

Collaborate with other Emerge Labs Engineers, Architects and Cybersecurity staff to meet IR&D datacenter requirements to include compute, storage, networking and virtualization capabilities.

Drive process and procedures for managing our physical datacenter and onboarding tenant customers and appliances

Create and maintain datacenter documentation including rack and network diagrams

Conduct capacity planning and provide leadership recommendations for efficiently scaling services over time

Utilize networking and virtualization capabilities from vendors including VMWare, Cisco, Palo Alto, Dell, Google, Azure and AWS.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED

Bring your technology expertise and drive for innovation to GDIT. The Infrastructure Specialist Principal must have:
Education: Bachelor's degree (additional related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree)

Certifications: One or more Data Center networking and infrastructure certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, as well as one or more Data Center virtualization certifications such as VMWare (VCP)

Experience: 5+ years of related experience

Technical skills:

  • Hands-on expertise managing multi-tenant, virtualized infrastructure and services using VMWare
  • Hands-on expertise with datacenter networking and firewall capabilities from Cisco and Palo Alto. Additional expertise with SD-WAN capabilities desired.
  • Experience with hybrid, multi-cloud environments where physical datacenters leverage cloud services from AWS, Google or Azure.
  • Expertise troubleshooting and resolving hardware issues for IT infrastructure devices
  • Experience documenting datacenters, including creating and maintaining rack and network diagrams
  • Experience with datacenter capacity planning

  • Primary work location is GDIT's Falls Church, VA Headquarters campus, where we have multiple datacenter spaces supporting Emerge Labs.
  • Must be located within a 1 hour commuting radius of GDIT's Falls Church, VA Headquarters campus to support touch maintenance or outages and be willing to work onsite five (5) days per week
  • The ability to lift, carry, push, or pull IT infrastructure equipment (servers, power supplies, vendor appliances, etc.)

The likely salary range for this position is $153,000 - $207,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
