POSITION TITLE

Lead Platform Architect, Cloud

POSITION LOCATION

This position is available to Virginia residents as Richmond, Virginia in-office applicants

*A Hybrid schedule of both Remote and In-Office days is required. In office days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with working hours targeting our core business hours of 9am-5pm EST.

YOUR ROLE

As an IT team member, you'll play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and managing technology solutions that are the foundation of the world-class customer service our customers expect and deserve-now and in the future.

As the Lead Platform Architect, Cloud, you will play a critical role in defining how the organization designs and operates infrastructure in the cloud. You will lead the architecture of cloud infrastructure platforms, ensuring they are secure, scalable, resilient, and aligned with enterprise standards.

You will partner closely with Engineering, Service Operations, Security, and the Cloud Platform Team to establish clear patterns and guardrails that enable teams to move faster while maintaining consistency across the environment.

This role, working on the Infrastructure Platform Architecture team and reporting to the Director of Platform Architecture, will participate in the development of the overall IT strategy that guides the adoption, deployment, and realization of technologies, services, and capabilities implemented in support of the business strategy.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
  • Participates in the Enterprise Architecture group that is responsible for defining and maintaining product and architectural standards for technology services
  • Define and maintain enterprise cloud infrastructure architecture, including:
  • Landing zones and shared services
  • Environment design and segmentation
  • Integration with enterprise network and identity platforms
  • Develop and document cloud infrastructure reference architectures and reusable patterns
  • Lead design for complex, cross-tower initiatives involving cloud, network, identity, and operations
  • Ensure cloud designs are scalable, resilient, and aligned to business needs and enterprise standards
  • Partner with Network, Identity, Datacenter, and Security architects to ensure end-to-end infrastructure cohesion
  • Define cloud connectivity patterns (hybrid, multi-region, SaaS integration)
  • Ensure alignment between cloud architecture and enterprise infrastructure strategy
  • Evaluate and guide workload placement decisions across cloud and on-prem environments
  • Promote reusable, automated infrastructure patterns instead of one-off builds
  • Partner with Engineering teams to improve platform usability and developer experience
  • Mentor engineers and architects on cloud infrastructure best practices
WHAT YOU BRING
  • 5+ years of experience as an architect
  • 10+ years of experience in IT
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud technologies (AWS and Azure) with a proven record of leading implementation of those technologies
  • Strong experience with public cloud platforms (Azure/AWS)
  • Experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale infrastructure architectures
  • Deep understanding of:
  • Cloud infrastructure (IaaS/PaaS)
  • Networking (routing, segmentation, hybrid connectivity)
  • Identity and access management concepts
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code
  • Experience in hybrid cloud and datacenter integration
  • Familiarity with Zero Trust architecture principles
  • Experience working in a regulated enterprise environment (financial services, insurance, etc.)

Additional Information

National Range: $120,900-$187,000

Disclaimer: This role is aligned to a national market-based pay range. Actual compensation will vary based on geographic location, experience, skills, and other job-related factors. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible to participate in a bonus incentive plan. Incentive compensation is based on individual and company performance and is not guaranteed.
