Job description

Database Administrator (DBA) – AdvancedJob Location

Tallahassee, Florida – Onsite

Employment Type

Contract – Staff Augmentation

Contract Duration

August 24, 2026 through June 30, 2027

The contract may be renewed based on work performance, business need, and budget availability.

Work Arrangement

This is a fully onsite position. Telecommuting or remote work is not authorized.

Work Schedule

The selected candidate must be flexible to work between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM.

The position may also require Saturday, rotational, regular on-call, or after-hours support based on operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily database operational and administration activities.

  • Plan, design, implement, maintain, and support enterprise database structures.

  • Administer Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, GIS, and spatial database environments.

  • Monitor database performance, availability, capacity, and reliability.

  • Conduct database performance analysis and tuning.

  • Design, develop, modify, and optimize database schemas.

  • Support database activities associated with application enhancements, rewrites, and modernization initiatives.

  • Perform SQL code reviews and recommend improvements.

  • Develop and maintain database administration procedures, standards, and technical documentation.

  • Diagnose and resolve complex enterprise production database issues.

  • Provide recommendations for database remediation, optimization, and long-term stability.

  • Assist with enterprise data architecture and database design initiatives.

  • Ensure databases are developed and maintained in accordance with departmental standards.

  • Support ESRI SDE geodatabases and related GIS database environments.

  • Analyze business processes and workflows to design efficient database solutions.

  • Prepare complex database specifications and technical documentation.

  • Collaborate with project managers, business analysts, data analysts, developers, infrastructure teams, and other technical stakeholders.

  • Assist with training and mentoring other technical staff.

  • Estimate the level of effort and time required for database analysis and administration tasks.

  • Perform additional database or infrastructure-related activities as assigned.

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree in one of the following areas:

  • Computer Science

  • Information Systems

  • A related technical field

Equivalent professional work experience may be accepted in place of a degree.

Required Experience

The candidate must have at least five years of combined database administration experience.

Required experience includes:

  • Expert-level experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2012 or later.

  • Experience with Oracle Database 10g or later.

  • Experience administering enterprise relational database management systems.

  • Experience designing and managing relational databases.

  • Experience troubleshooting enterprise production database issues.

  • Experience with database performance monitoring and tuning.

  • Experience developing and maintaining database administration documentation and procedures.

  • Experience reviewing SQL code.

  • Experience supporting databases for application development, enhancements, and rewrites.

  • Experience with GIS and spatial databases.

Preferred Experience

The following experience is preferred:
