The Role: Mission Control Alarm Systems Engineer

As a Mission Control Alarm Systems Engineer at Switch, you will help ensure Mission Control alarms are accurate, reliable, and ready to support operational response. You will manage alarm quality throughout the alarm lifecycle, from rationalization and implementation through validation and performance monitoring. You will maintain the integrity of the Master Alarm Database and test alarm workflows from event generation through operator response. You will also investigate alarm issues and recommend improvements based on operational data and results.

What Youll Do
  • Support alarm rationalization and ensure requirements are accurately represented in the Master Alarm Database.
  • Maintain accurate and complete alarm records and supporting technical documentation.
  • Validate alarm configurations, priorities, thresholds, routing, attributes, and operator response requirements.
  • Perform end-to-end testing and acceptance validation from alarm generation through operational response.
  • Support operational acceptance and readiness validation for new systems, equipment, and capabilities.
  • Monitor alarm performance, workflow health, dashboards, and established performance indicators.
  • Investigate alarm quality issues, identify root causes, and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Analyze alarm and workflow data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
  • Develop and maintain testing procedures, validation methods, and supporting documentation.
  • Support planned testing, commissioning, maintenance, and incident activities outside normal business hours when required.
  • Travel locally, domestically, or internationally when required.

  • 47 years of relevant experience in mission-critical operations, facilities operations, industrial systems, controls, operational technology, systems integration, commissioning, alarm management, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with testing, validation, commissioning, troubleshooting, or technical acceptance activities.
  • Experience analyzing alarms, events, system performance, operational data, or workflow results.
  • Experience coordinating technical work across operational and engineering stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of alarm management principles, lifecycle activities, performance analysis, and operational readiness practices.
  • Strong documentation and data-management skills.
  • Ability to develop and execute structured testing and validation activities.
  • Working knowledge of operational monitoring, reporting, workflow, service management, or similar enterprise platforms.
  • A bachelors degree in a relevant technical field, or equivalent technical training, certifications, military experience, or professional experience.
  • Experience with alarm management programs, alarm lifecycle practices, or Master Alarm Database administration is preferred.
