Job Responsibilities:

Semper Valens Solutions is looking for a Database Engineer. Provides subject matter proficiency for work described in the task. Responsible for providing analytical skills to support process improvement, specialized studies, and definition of requirements.

Job Description:  Provides subject matter proficiency for work described in the task. Responsible for providing analytical skills to support process improvement, specialized studies, and definition of requirements. Typical duties include analysis, planning, developing requirements documents, building functional models, developing procedures, developing functional architectures, and other related management and technical duties. provide system administration in core data-related AWS services and relational and non-relational databases. Maintaining multiple databases across unclassified and classified environments is required. This also includes data exchanges through cross domain solution pipelines such as AWS diode and software artifacts. Must have the ability to automate and ingest and transform data, orchestrate data pipelines while applying programming concepts, design data models, manage data life cycles, and ensure data quality.

  • Deploy and manage database solutions on AWS, including EC2 instances and S3 storage.
  • Implement best practices for security, scalability, and disaster recovery in a cloud environment. 
  • Monitor database performance and proactively identify and resolve issues to minimize downtime. 
  • Implement backup and recovery strategies to safeguard data integrity and availability. 
  • Perform regular database maintenance tasks such as backups, restores, and integrity checks. 
  • Monitor database performance and identify areas for optimization.
  • Typical duties include analysis, planning, developing requirements documents, building functional models, developing procedures, developing functional architecture, and other related management and technical duties.
  • Requires expertise in specialty areas
  • At least 10 years of overall experience in the functional area.
  • A bachelor's degree in related field required
  • Master's degree may substitute for 2 years of experience

Requirements Qualifications:

  • Ten (10) years combined experience in each of the following for relational and cloud-based databases:
    • Database development and software engineering/development
    • Database Design and Data Modeling
    • Requirements analysis/generation
    • Developing systems and software architectures 
  • Must have 5 years' experience working with Enterprise DB as a database platform engineer in a medium to large scale solutions to include experience with tasks such as data migration, data modeling, automation, modernization, data replication, backup and recovery, and general DBA tasks
  • 7 years of experience with PostgreSQL
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining automated installation scripts.
  • Demonstrated experience developing database solutions in a multi-tiered environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred candidate will have proficiency in AWS tools such as: Kubernetes, EKS, Diode, Lambda etc. (not all inclusive) orchestrated/deployed in a cloud environment
