Position Summary...Walmart/VIZIO is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for Vizio's Database Reliability Engineering team. The successful candidate will play an important role in driving a critical overhaul in how we deploy and manage our database platforms, enabling a radical improvement in consistency, efficiency, and operability.

The Database Reliability Engineering team manages enterprise cloud-based database systems to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and availability. The team designs and implements disaster recovery solutions, automates infrastructure maintenance, and supports continuous integration processes. Members collaborate to monitor system health, troubleshoot issues, and enhance site reliability using advanced tools and methodologies. Emphasizing precision, proactive problem-solving, and compliance with security standards, the team plays a critical role in maintaining the resilience and efficiency of essential business operations across the organization.What you'll do...
  • Build the tooling foundation that will enable repeatable, low overhead creation and operation of databases, deployed and run at scale
  • Design and implement an IaC-based approach for managing stateful infrastructure components
  • Create and maintain pipelines that enable migration of infrastructure
  • Build and rebuild cloud databases in a zero-touch, zero-downtime fashion
  • Automate routine maintenance tasks
  • Serve as a trusted resource for database selection and governance
  • Partner with application development counterparts to serve their needs while improving how they interact with database resources
  • Document architecture, processes, policies, and how-to guides
  • Participate in a low noise 24x7 on-call rotation
What you'll bring: 
  • Strong working experience as a DBA, DevOps engineer, SRE, or software engineer with expertise in data solutions
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tenets and practices
  • Experience with declarative definition of infrastructure resources through tools such as Terraform.
  • Automation of infrastructure deployment workflows using deployment pipelines built out on tools like GitHub Actions or Jenkins
  • Schema (DDL) deployment automation using tools such as Liquibase or Flyway

The annual salary range for this position is $121,000.00 - $242,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
