About Our Client
Our client is seeking a Corporate Tax Manager for a 6-month contract opportunity. The Corporate Tax Manager is a member of the Corporate Tax team in the Financial and Corporate Services Division and reports to the Vice President, Corporate Tax.
About the Opportunity
Audits and Disputes:
  • Manage complex tax audits across multiple tax types (income, sales, and withholding tax, transfer pricing, etc.), including direct engagement with tax authorities (e.g., Canada Revenue Agency)
  • Manage dispute resolution processes including objections, appeals, and Competent Authority negotiations
  • Coordinate with external advisors (e.g., Big 4 accounting firms, legal counsel) and internal stakeholders
Compliance, Advisory & Planning:
  • Prepare/Review tax provisions, returns, and transfer pricing documentation; tax returns include income, sales, withholding tax returns
  • Coordinate and oversee work performed by offshore tax teams in India
  • Perform tax research & analysis, provide technical tax guidance and recommendations on complex issues
  • Support tax planning initiatives and business transactions
  • Partner with business and finance teams to assess tax implications of new products or services
Leadership & Projects:
  • Lead and mentor offshore tax teams in India
  • Drive process improvements and strengthen tax governance and controls
  • Lead or support strategic initiatives and cross-functional projects including ad hoc special projects

About You
  • CPA or equivalent, or Master of Taxation.
  • Completion of CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Courses Level 1 & 2.
  • University degree, preferably with focus on finance or accounting.
  • At least two years of corporate tax experience.  4 years of working experience in accounting/tax, corporate tax experience required.  Financial industry and transfer pricing tax experience an asset.
  • Public accounting firm experience (Big 4) strongly preferred.
  • Strong experience managing audits and tax authority interactions
  • Ability to translate complex tax concepts into clear business insights for senior stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of tax risk management and internal controls
  • Strong leadership, critical thinking, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills with a pragmatic approach
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a high-volume environment
  • Experience working with global or offshore teams is an asset
  • Effective communication skills, good interpersonal skills, and good presentation skills including presentation to non-tax persons or senior management on complicated tax matters.
  • Detailed, results-oriented, proactive and take ownership of your work.
  • Quick learner, self-motivated, able to work independently without guidance, curious in asking good questions and “eager to learn” attitude.
  • Experience working with large datasets and financial models to assess tax outcomes
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (financial modelling including use of pivot tables, v-lookups, net present value calculations, and large dataset analysis), PowerPoint, and tax software (e.g., Tax prep, CCH), PowerPoint, tax research database (such as CCH Intelliconnect), Corporate Tax prep software and experience with AI tools
  • Solid understanding of IFRS tax accounting standards.
  • In-depth knowledge of income tax legislation and practices with respect to a variety of different types of corporate and other taxes
  • Positive attitude and team player
