Job description

Position Summary

AFS is seeking an experienced and results-driven Project Manager to develop detailed project plans for each assigned project, ensure resource availability and allocation, manage both splicing teams and extraction teams, support sales and business development teams with project timelines and duration, communicate to our military and telecom clients, and deliver every project on time within budget and scope. Key Responsibilities

● Survey cable plant, audit all circuits with test equipment, re-engineer cable pairs from base's unique, CVC Geospatial database

● Manage a team responsible for auditing, decommissioning, compressing and rerouting traffic on copper cables, without disruption to the client's active network

● Manage a team responsible for safe extraction of decommissioned copper cables, without disruption to the client’s active network

● Talk to clients about projects and manage client expectations

● Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects

● Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget

● Ensure resource availability and allocation

● Develop a detailed project plan to track progress

● Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs

● Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques

● Report and escalate to management as needed

● Perform risk management to minimize project risks

● Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation

Employment Details

This is a temp-to-permanent opportunity. During the initial training period, the selected candidate will be engaged as an Independent Contractor. Upon successful completion of training and demonstration of performance, the position will transition to a permanent employee role. Additionally, this position requires frequent travel to US military bases both domestically and internationally.

Qualifications

● Proven work experience as a project manager; experience in the telecommunications field and/or military communications positions are a plus

● Willing to be hands-on and not afraid to work in a field environment

● Excellent written and verbal communication skills

● Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills

● Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
