Database Architect
Santa Clara, CA 95054

We are seeking an experienced Database Architect with experience in systems engineering to lead the design, optimization, and governance of an on-premise database ecosystem spanning NoSQL/analytic and relational platforms, combining deep database engineering expertise with strong systems architecture skills across computing, storage, networking, virtualization, and security.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Architect and maintain scalable ClickHouse clusters for high-performance analytical workloads
  • Design and operate robust HBase clusters
  • Implement ingestion and streaming patterns for NoSQL analytics (e.g., Kafka pipelines)
  • Architect highly available, scalable deployments of SQL Server or PostgreSQL on physical and virtual servers
  • Lead schema and data modeling (OLTP and analytical), including normalization, partitioning, indexing, and lifecycle design
  • Implement database access governance, least privilege and auditing
  • Partner with networking teams to design low-latency, high-bandwidth network architectures supporting large-scale relational and analytic workloads

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • At least 8 years of architecture/engineering experience in on-prem enterprise environments
  • Proven experience architecting and operating ClickHouse clusters at scale
  • Deep expertise with Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL, including HA/DR, tuning, indexing, partitioning, and replication
  • Hands-on expertise with HBase internals (HDFS, region servers, ZooKeeper, compactions)
  • Strong systems engineering background: Linux (RHEL) and Windows Server
  • Proficiency with VMware/Hyper-V virtualization and enterprise storage (SAN/NAS/NVMe)
  • Strong scripting/automation skills in PowerShell, Bash, Python, or Ansible

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor of Computer Science or related technical discipline
  • Familiarity with MPP/on-premise analytics ecosystems beyond ClickHouse/HBase
  • Any certifications in PostgreSQL, MSSQL, Linux, VMware, or Hadoop ecosystem
