Job description

Job Title: IDMS DBA

Location: Omaha NE, Alpharetta GA, Berkeley Heights NJ (Onsite)

Duration: long term Contract

Responsibilities:

·         Administering and maintaining CA IDMS environments, including installation, configuration, upgrades, and patching

·         Monitoring IDMS regions to ensure high availability and performance

·         Managing IDMS-DC (Data Communications) environments and resolving communication issues

·         Supporting application teams working with ADS and COBOL, including development and deployment activity

·         Designing and maintaining schemas and subschemas, ensuring data integrity and efficient database structures

·         Monitoring database performance, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing tuning improvements (buffers, indexing, storage)

·         Managing backup, recovery, and journaling processes, ensuring minimal downtime and data loss

·         Troubleshooting incidents, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing long-term fixes

·         Enforcing security controls and ensuring compliance with governance and regulatory requirements

·         Maintaining clear documentation and supporting knowledge sharing across teams

We are looking for candidates with:

·         5+ years’ experience working as an IDMS DBA in large enterprise or mainframe environments

·         Strong expertise in: CA IDMS, IDMS-DC, ADS (Application Development System) COBOL

·         Proven experience with schema and subschema design and maintenance

·         Strong background in performance monitoring and tuning

·         Experience with backup, recovery, journaling, and disaster recovery planning

·         Hands-on experience with database restructure activities (unload/reload/reorg)
