Position Summary
The Tableau Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining interactive dashboards and data visualizations that provide actionable insights to business leaders. This role partners closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements, translate them into clear analytical solutions, and ensure data accuracy, usability, and performance across all reports.

Key ResponsibilitiesData Visualization & Dashboard Development
  • Design, build, and maintain Tableau dashboards, workbooks, and visual analytics.

  • Apply best practices in UI/UX for data visualization to ensure clarity and engagement.

  • Create calculated fields, parameters, and complex data models to support reporting needs.

  • Optimize dashboards for speed, performance, and scalability.

Data Analysis & Reporting
  • Collaborate with business partners to define key metrics, KPIs, and reporting requirements.

  • Analyze data trends, patterns, and anomalies and present insights clearly to stakeholders.

  • Develop automated, repeatable reporting solutions that support ongoing business operations.

Data Management & Integration
  • Connect Tableau to various data sources (SQL databases, spreadsheets, cloud sources, APIs).

  • Validate and cleanse data to ensure accuracy and consistency across reports.

  • Work with Data Engineers and IT to maintain data pipelines and troubleshoot issues.

Collaboration & Communication
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (Finance, HR, Operations, Sales, IT) to translate analytic needs into usable dashboards.

  • Present findings and recommendations to leadership in a clear, accessible way.

  • Provide user training on Tableau dashboards and self-service analytics.

Governance & Quality Assurance
  • Maintain documentation on data sources, dashboard logic, and update processes.

  • Implement version control and apply data governance best practices.

  • Ensure security and proper permissions for dashboard access.

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 2-5+ years of experience developing dashboards in Tableau Desktop.

  • Strong proficiency with SQL (joins, CTEs, data transformations).

  • Ability to analyze complex datasets and present insights visually and verbally.

  • Experience working with relational databases, data warehouses, or cloud platforms.

  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and data validation skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Tableau Server or Tableau Cloud administration.

  • Experience with ETL tools (Alteryx, PowerQuery, SSIS, Informatica, dbt, etc.).
