Job description

Lockwood Hills Federal is Looking for a Formality Review Clerk to support the LHDTSV PTS contract at the USPTO. Perform Formality Review check of Patents application and issue Filing Receipt or Notice to Applicant and enter appropriate application data into PTO system according to USPTO current procedures.
This Hybrid position requires that you live within commuting distance from Alexandria, VA
Responsibilities
This position requires familiarity with the terminology of the office unit. The General Clerk selects appropriate methods from a wide variety of procedures or makes simple adaptations and interpretations of a limited number of substantive guides and manuals. The clerical steps often vary in type or sequence, depending on the task. Recognized problems are referred to others.
  • Perform Formality Review check of Patents application and Follow-on documents to issue Filing Receipt or Notice to applicants.
  • Data entry of bibliographic and application information into the USPTO systems according to procedures.
  • Operate multiple USPTO systems simultaneously to process information of patent applications (Pre-Exam, Official Correspondence, eDAN, PDP, FPNG)
  • Use USPTO procedures to calculate Filing Fees, check Pre-Grant Publication requirements, and application requirements before Patent Examination stage of Patent Application Processing.
  • Quality review of all work with emphasis on draft Filing Receipts and Notices ensuring they are corrected before it gets mailed out to applicants on the same date as issuing.
  • Identify auto load, indexing or scanning errors for correction prior to processing.
  • Work must be performed with a minimum of Production & Quality Standard as task assigned.
  • Provide accurate production, hours, and error status reports as required.
  • Follow established safety, fire and health regulations.
  • Must be willing to be trained and assigned to other areas of patent application processing as necessary to reduce backlog, or to assist with increased workload or special projects.
  • Must be courteous and respectful to internal or external customers.
  • Keep work areas neat and clean.

Qualifications
  • One year clerical/administrative experience.
  • High school diploma
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Experience using MS Windows operating environment and performing data entry.
  • Accurate typing skills at 40 wpm.
  • Able to obtain and maintain public trust clearance.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Two years clerical experience and/or working with legal documents.
  • Associates degree.
  • Above average proficiency in using a personal computer and various software applications.
  • One year experience in USPTO environment.
