POSITION TITLE: Director of Data Services and Integrations

SUPERVISOR: Chief Information Officer, IET Services

PURPOSE:

Responsible for leading and managing the University's enterprise data services, application integrations, database platforms, software development initiatives, and information systems support. This position provides strategic and operational leadership for the technologies and services that facilitate secure, reliable, and efficient information exchange across the University's administrative and academic systems. The Director works collaboratively with departments across the University to improve business processes, system interoperability, automation, and access to information while supporting the institution's mission and strategic goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Collaborate with University departments, offices, and staff in the definition, development, implementation, and documentation of software applications, business processes, integrations, and technology solutions.

Analyze and assess existing business systems and procedures to identify opportunities for automation, operational efficiency, and process improvement.

Lead the design, development, implementation, and support of enterprise system integrations and data exchange processes between administrative, academic, and third-party systems.

Develop, manage, and maintain APIs, middleware, ETL processes, automation solutions, and other technologies that support enterprise connectivity and information sharing.

Assist in defining project plans, technical requirements, implementation strategies, resource needs, and timelines for software development and integration initiatives.

Oversee the development, testing, deployment, maintenance, and enhancement of custom software applications and integration solutions supporting University operations.

Manage and maintain University databases, enterprise applications, and associated technologies.

Ensure the availability, integrity, security, and reliability of enterprise data services and information systems.

Coordinate database administration activities including performance monitoring, optimization, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.

Work with Institutional Research, Enrollment Services, Financial Aid, Accounting, Human Resources, Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and other University departments to ensure systems and data resources support operational needs.

Support enterprise reporting needs by maintaining reliable data sources, data structures, integrations, and information delivery mechanisms in collaboration with Institutional Research and functional data owners.

Recommend, schedule, and coordinate software improvements, upgrades, modernization efforts, and technology implementations.

Liaise with network administrators, systems analysts, software engineers, and vendors to resolve technical issues impacting University systems and services.

Provide leadership, mentoring, and technical guidance to developers, analysts, and other assigned personnel.

Establish and maintain technical standards, procedures, and best practices related to software development, integrations, databases, automation, and information systems.

Participate in strategic planning initiatives, technology committees, project teams, and cross-functional efforts supporting institutional objectives.

Support campus-wide data governance, cybersecurity, compliance, and data stewardship initiatives in collaboration with functional stakeholders and other University departments.

Develop, review, update, and recommend University technology policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines.

Responsible for developing and adhering to University policies, procedures, and standards.

Participate in or provide consultation to committees, user groups, training sessions, and technology planning efforts.

Take an active role in the customer satisfaction process and ensure effective communication regarding projects, initiatives, and service delivery.

Keep users informed regarding the status of service requests, projects, and technology initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:


Required:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Data Analytics, Business Administration, or a related field, or five years of progressively responsible experience in application development, systems analysis, database administration, enterprise systems support, integrations, or related technology fields.

Experience with SQL databases, application development, APIs, ETL processes, enterprise integrations, and business process automation.

Demonstrated ability to manage complex technology projects and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

Strong analytical, organizational, project management, and communication skills.


Preferred:

Master's degree in a related field.

Experience working in higher education.

Experience with ERP, SIS, CRM, and cloud-based enterprise applications.

Experience with data warehouses, integration platforms, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI administration, or similar technologies.

Experience supervising technical staff and leading enterprise technology initiatives.
