What is a data sales manager?

Data Sales Managers are professionals responsible for selling data products, services, or solutions to clients. They identify potential customers, develop sales strategies, and manage relationships with existing clients to meet revenue targets. Their role often involves understanding client needs, negotiating contracts, and collaborating with data analysts or product teams to deliver customized solutions. Data Sales Managers play a crucial role in helping organizations monetize their data assets and drive business growth.

How does a data sales manager typically collaborate with technical teams to meet client needs?

This collaboration often involves translating client business needs into technical specifications, participating in solution design meetings, and coordinating deliverables throughout the sales cycle. By acting as a bridge between clients and technical experts, the Data Sales Manager helps facilitate customized data solutions, ensuring client satisfaction and successful project outcomes.

Familiarity with CRM platforms like Salesforce, data visualization tools, and industry certifications such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) are typically required. Excellent negotiation, relationship-building, and communication skills help you connect with clients and drive deals forward. These competencies are crucial for understanding client needs, presenting data solutions effectively, and achieving sales targets in a competitive market.

As a wholly owned subsidiary of Ford Motor Company, we are a gateway to access the world-class engineering, powertrain solutions, and cutting-edge technology that have made Ford an icon for over a century.

When you join FCS, your reach extends far beyond the driveway. Our components power everything from high-performance marine vessels and rugged industrial machinery to advanced defense vehicles and the next generation of transportation. You'll be helping diverse industries across the globe reduce development costs and get to market faster using genuine Ford DNA.

We operate with the entrepreneurial spirit of a specialized team, backed by the massive resources and innovation of Ford Motor Company. Since 1947, we've been "One Team" dedicated to excellence. Here, you'll find:

  • Innovation at Scale: From engines and transmissions to the future of multimedia with SYNC technology.
  • Global Impact: Work with partners in the industrial, marine, agricultural, and defense sectors.
  • A Legacy of Excellence: Join a culture built on a century of Ford innovation and a commitment to world-class service.

The Role: We are seeking a strategic and results-oriented Aftermarket Sales Manager to lead the development and implementation of growth plans for our aftermarket business unit. Reporting to the External Markets Sales Director, you will be responsible for driving incremental growth across the Aftermarket, Transmission, and Special Markets lines of business. This is a high-impact leadership role where you will manage pricing, contract development, and key customer relationships while leading a dedicated team to achieve excellence.

Essential Functions:

  • Strategic Growth: Develop and execute long-term strategic plans to expand FCS's footprint in the aftermarket and special markets sectors.
  • Product & Pricing Leadership: Maintain competitive product offerings and manage pricing activities to maximize profitability and market share.
  • Contract Management: Lead the development, negotiation, and implementation of customer agreements and quotations.
  • Business Intelligence: Monitor and evaluate competitor activities and products; provide accurate and timely sales forecasting to guide business decisions.
  • Executive Reporting: Develop and report Business Plan Review (BPR) data to senior management, ensuring transparency in performance metrics.
  • Relationship Management: Cultivate strong partnerships with the Ford Customer Service Division (FCSD) and key internal counterparts to enhance distribution channel synergies.
  • Market Presence: Deliver high-level sales presentations to key clients and represent FCS at major trade association meetings and industry events.
  • People Leadership: Manage assigned department employees, overseeing hiring, performance management, and professional development to build a high-performing team.

Qualifications: We are looking for a seasoned sales leader with a proven track record in the automotive or industrial aftermarket. To be successful, you will typically possess:

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university; or
  • Seven (7) or more years of related experience in sales management, aftermarket parts, or business development; or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates your capability to lead a sales organization.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, contract negotiation, and people management.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to travel to client sites and industry events.

We Offer: An attractive and competitive compensation and benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, paid holidays, bonus, 401(k) with company match, disability insurance, and tuition reimbursement assistance.

Why Join Us: If you are a visionary leader who takes pride in driving business success and developing talent, we'd love to talk with you. Please visit fordcomponentsalesllc.com to learn more.
