Position Overview:  

Join our dynamic team as a Project Manager at our facility located in Mount Vernon, Indiana. In this pivotal role, you will provide exceptional project management for our diverse range of products. As a key player in our Program Management Team, you will lead all areas of the business, ensuring that activities align with customer contract requirements and industry standards.

Location: 

On-site in Mount Vernon, IN

Your Day to Day as a Project Manager:

  • Will be assigned a collection of individual contracts to manage and oversee within a larger project or program
  • Will work closely with the Senior Manager of Project Management, fellow Project Managers(s) and Project Administrator(s)
  • Communicates with the customer on a regular basis to manage Purchase Orders, Contract Requirements, Submittals, and Invoices
  • Interfaces with customer representatives for problem identification and resolution
  • Assists Contracts Department in proposal efforts to ensure data is made available from the functional departments and to ensure that company offerings meet customer needs with regard to bid dates, design and contract details
  • Reviews and approves applicable proposal
  • Reviews and interprets proposal correspondence, proposals and contract specifications to become fully acquainted with all requirements, obligations, conditions and terms of the contract
  • Leads regularly scheduled Project Team meeting for assigned contracts. Directs the efforts of the team and secures assistance from functional organizations to fulfill purposes of the project.
  • Directs the preparation of project plans which provide for the control of project cost, schedule and documentation requirements
  • Develop and manage project baselines and forecasts to completion
  • Ultimately responsible for the schedule and cost performance of all assigned projects / programs
  • Approves material purchases, authorizes production by preplanned stages and approves changes to the master schedule that affects the project
  • Assesses contract cost and processing efficiencies on an ongoing basis and takes necessary corrective actions
  • Interfaces with Customer on purchase of materials and components to support production by contract terms and conditions
  • Interfaces with all levels of the BWXT management team and the customer and customer's customer to communicate project status and items of concern
  • Institutes corrective action where needed by means of the following personnel: Project Management Team, Functional Departments, Section and Unit Managers and General Manager
  • Establishes priorities for day-to-day activities and expedites customer action
  • Reports to Senior Project Manager
  • Prepares and presents material for customers, suppliers, and internal management meetings

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 10 years of business experience with a minimum of 5 years of Project Management, Contract Management, and/or Proposal management related experience required. Prior management experience preferred.
  • A bachelor's degree is required
  • Demonstrated strong leadership abilities
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification strongly desired
  • Advanced degrees are desired
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PMP certification or equivalent advanced project management credential.
  • Experience in manufacturing, nuclear, defense, or government contracting environments.
  • Experience with P6.
  • Demonstrated success leading organizational change or process improvement initiatives.

Pay: $114,000 - $180,000

The base salary range for this position in Indiana (US-IN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $114,000 and $180,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,' unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.  The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
