What is a data program manager?

A Data Program Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating data-related projects and initiatives within an organization. They manage teams, set project goals, allocate resources, and ensure that data strategies align with business objectives. Their role often involves working closely with data engineers, analysts, and stakeholders to ensure data quality, compliance, and effective use of data assets. Data Program Managers also monitor project progress, address risks, and ensure the successful delivery of data programs on time and within budget.

What are some common challenges data program managers face when coordinating cross-functional data projects?

Data Program Managers often encounter challenges such as aligning priorities across different teams, ensuring data quality and consistency, and managing dependencies between technical and business stakeholders. Effective communication and stakeholder management are essential, as projects typically involve collaboration among data engineers, analysts, product managers, and executives.
