Technical Program Manager, Data Infrastructure & AI Integrations

Location: Seattle, WA | Hybrid

Employment Type: Contract

Initial Contract: 6 months, with strong potential for extension through the end of 2027

Compensation: $85-$105 per hour

Position Overview

Hansell Tierney is partnering with a leading global philanthropic organization to identify an experienced Technical Program Manager (TPM) to support its Enterprise Data Infrastructure team.

This role sits at the intersection of enterprise data platforms, AI integration, information security, legal, and technology governance. The TPM will help manage the intake, evaluation, testing, documentation, and approval process for Model Context Protocol (MCP) connectors and related integrations across the organization.

The successful candidate will bring a strong foundation in data platforms and technical program management, along with enough technical depth to understand MCP architecture, evaluate connector requirements, participate in testing and analysis, and translate technical considerations for a variety of stakeholders.

This is a highly cross-functional role requiring excellent communication, strong technical curiosity, structured problem-solving, and the ability to move complex requests through multiple technical and governance teams.

Key Responsibilities

MCP Connector Intake & Evaluation

• Manage incoming requests for MCP connectors and related integrations across the organization.
• Gather and clarify technical and business requirements associated with connector requests.
• Analyze proposed integrations to understand data flows, dependencies, access requirements, and potential risks.
• Coordinate testing and validation of MCP connectors prior to broader approval or implementation.
• Partner with technical teams to identify issues, document findings, and support resolution.
• Help establish repeatable processes for evaluating and progressing MCP connector requests.

Technical Program Management

• Own and coordinate workstreams across Data Infrastructure, IT, Information Security, Legal, and other stakeholder groups.
• Develop and maintain project plans, requirements, milestones, dependencies, risks, and action items.
• Drive requests through technical review, security assessment, legal review, testing, and approval processes.
• Identify blockers and proactively coordinate the appropriate teams to resolve them.
• Manage multiple concurrent requests while maintaining clear visibility into status, ownership, dependencies, and next steps.
• Ensure decisions and action items are documented and communicated to appropriate stakeholders.
• Provide clear program updates and escalate risks or decisions when appropriate.

Technical Analysis & Testing

• Apply a strong understanding of enterprise data platforms to evaluate proposed MCP integrations.
• Understand MCP server and connector concepts sufficiently to participate meaningfully in technical discussions and reviews.
• Support hands-on analysis and functional testing of MCP connectors.
• Work with engineering and infrastructure teams to understand connector behavior, data access, authentication, dependencies, and integration requirements.
• Document test results, technical considerations, identified risks, and recommended next steps.
• Develop enough technical depth in individual requests to effectively bridge engineering teams and business/governance stakeholders.

Security, Legal & Governance Coordination

• Prepare technical artifacts and supporting documentation required for Information Security, Legal, and other governance reviews.
• Present connector requests, technical findings, and outstanding questions during Information Security and Legal office hours or other review forums.
• Translate technical concepts into clear documentation that enables effective risk and governance decisions.
• Track review requirements, decisions, conditions, and approvals through completion.
• Coordinate follow-up between technical teams and governance stakeholders when additional analysis or remediation is required.

Documentation & Process Improvement

• Create and maintain technical documentation, decision records, testing artifacts, process documentation, and program status materials.
• Develop repeatable templates and workflows for MCP connector intake, analysis, testing, and review.
• Identify opportunities to streamline cross-functional review processes while maintaining appropriate technical, security, and legal rigor.
• Help establish scalable operating practices as adoption of MCP-based integrations and AI-enabled tools grows.

Required Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience as a Technical Program Manager working with enterprise technology, data platforms, data infrastructure, or related technical environments.
• Strong understanding of modern data platforms, integrations, APIs, and enterprise data concepts.
• Working knowledge of Model Context Protocol (MCP), including MCP servers and connectors.
• Ability to perform technical analysis and participate in hands-on testing and validation of integrations or connectors.
• Experience driving complex technical initiatives involving multiple teams and stakeholder groups.
• Ability to work effectively with engineering, infrastructure, Information Security, Legal, and business stakeholders.
• Strong technical documentation skills with the ability to capture requirements, findings, risks, decisions, and implementation considerations clearly.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to translate between highly technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Highly organized and able to independently manage multiple concurrent workstreams, dependencies, and deadlines.
• Comfortable operating in an evolving technical environment where processes and standards may still be developing.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience implementing, evaluating, or governing MCP-based integrations.
• Familiarity with AI platforms and tools, particularly Claude AI.
• Experience supporting enterprise AI, generative AI, or AI-enabled data initiatives.
• Experience with security review, privacy, compliance, or technology governance processes.
• Experience working with enterprise APIs, connectors, authentication, and data integration patterns.
• Experience developing new technical intake, testing, or governance processes in a large organization.

What Success Looks Like

• MCP connector requests move efficiently from initial intake through technical, security, legal, and governance review.
• Technical requirements, risks, test results, and decisions are clearly documented and accessible to stakeholders.
• Engineering, Information Security, Legal, and business teams have a reliable point of coordination throughout the process.
• Potential technical or governance issues are surfaced early rather than late in the implementation process.
• Multiple connector requests can be managed concurrently without losing visibility into ownership, status, or next steps.
• Repeatable processes and documentation make future MCP connector evaluations faster and more consistent.
• The TPM develops credibility with both highly technical teams and business/governance stakeholders.
