The Sr. Product Owner is the member of the team responsible for defining and prioritizing the Team Backlog so as to streamline the execution of program priorities, while maintaining conceptual and technical integrity of the features or components the team is responsible for. The Sr. Product Owner has a significant role in quality and is the only team member empowered to "accept" new stories. This is a critical role and typically requires one PO to support one (sometimes two) Agile teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a voice to project the expectations of customers on new or already existing products
  • Highlight product features in a manner clearly understandable to the development team
  • Manage and develop product backlog, as well as user stories backlog for implementation for multiple agile teams
  • Conduct backlog grooming meetings with a team of product owners
  • Attend sprint planning and demo meetings to give feedback on sprint achievement, as well as to scrum team
  • Monitor the progress of product development, as well as plan for product release
  • Contact customers and end users to obtain information on expected product features
  • Provide reports to update management and stakeholders on product development operations
  • Analyze customer opinions and feedback to determine features or components that will add good value to a product
  • Assess product value stream to identify areas that require improvements
  • Measure product performance as well as value delivered to clients in order to make adjustments where necessary
  • Develop and implement action plans for building and sustaining demand for a product
  • Ensure implemented product features add value to end users and meet strategic expectations
  • Provide insight to agile teams on a continuous basis in order to accelerate product delivery timelines
  • Challenge approach of agile team on stories to improve the overall value of the product
  • Become familiar with technologies and methodologies relevant to the department areas of practice
  • Act as a subject matter expert in support of project development and implementation
  • Encourage best practices in the department by providing appropriate capabilities and guidance
  • Strategically partner with other departments to leverage collective expertise and resources
  • Share best practices with other product owners to encourage an enterprise level approach
  • Advocate for technical development of department members by leveraging agile team activities

Pay information:

The base salary offered for the successful candidate will be based on compensable factors such as job-relevant education, job-relevant experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other factors. The national average salary range for the Sr. Product Owner is $116,080 - $159,610/year with 25% incentive.
