Operations Data Processing Specialist

Company Overview

First National Bank North is a locally owned community bank committed to delivering exceptional service to our customers and community. We are looking for fun, outgoing, and detail-oriented individuals who are passionate about customer service and operational excellence.

Position Summary

The Operations Data Processing Specialist supports the bankโ€™s daily payment operations by accurately processing ACH transactions, check items, and other payment-related data. This role ensures timely, compliant, and accurate handling of financial transactions while maintaining data integrity and supporting operational efficiency.

Schedule

  • Flexible shifts Monday through Friday
  • Two Saturday mornings per month
  • No Sundays


Key Responsibilities

  • Process daily ACH files (origination and receipt), including batch verification, balancing, and release
  • Review and process incoming and outgoing payments (ACH, wires, internal transfers)
  • Process check transactions including RDC (remote deposit capture), branch capture, and exception items
  • Perform item review and exception handling (returns, NOCs, rejected items, duplicate detection)
  • Balance daily transaction totals and reconcile discrepancies
  • Validate transaction data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with NACHA and bank policies
  • Monitor processing queues to ensure transactions meet strict deadlines and cutoff times
  • Research and resolve customer and internal inquiries related to payments and transactions


Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in banking operations, payments processing, or back-office support
  • Working knowledge of ACH processing, check clearing, and payment systems
  • Familiarity with NACHA rules and banking regulations (Reg CC, UCC basics preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in a high-volume environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and core banking systems
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines in a time-sensitive processing environment


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Federal Reserve systems, core processing platforms, or item processing systems
  • Knowledge of wire processing and OFAC screening
  • Experience with Positive Pay, RDC platforms, or treasury services
  • Exposure to fraud detection tools and risk monitoring systems
  • Familiarity with automation tools (e.g., Power Automate)
