Description
POSITION DESCRIPTION: To assist the Grader Manager and Assistant Grader Manager with training and maintaining a capable working team. The Third Person is also responsible for assisting the Grader Manager in supervising and coordinating the activities of workers engaged in processing shell egg product from a daily checklist.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Must possess appropriate tools and bring with them to work.
  • Manage and supervise the entire egg production operation (machine and people) in the absence of the Grader Manager and Assistant Grader Manager.
  • Notify Quality Control Inspector to any egg weight and date problems on the back line.
  • Monitor and remind others to regularly check carton and box dating on the back line.
  • Routinely remind self and others to keep egg grader neat, clean and organized during operation (i.e., trash and egg are picked up before, during and after egg grader production run).
  • Ensure that denatured barrels are properly labeled and placed in the cooler each night.
  • Arrive and clock-in ½ hour before start-up.
  • Assist Grader Manager in ensuring that workers on back line follow run sheet and that all personnel are helping get back line and rest of grader ready for daily production run.
  • Assist Grader Manager in ensuring that employees become familiar with and comply with all company policies and regulations.
  • Assist Grader Manager in ensuring compliance with all Federal, State, and Local directives and regulations.
  • Completion and transmittal of all appropriate paperwork associated with egg grader operations and performance (in absence of Grader or Assistant Grader Manager).
  • Alert (within a reasonable time frame) the Grader or Assistant Grader Manager to any urgent or emergency situations, which require immediate attention or approval.
  • Assist in ensuring that housekeeping duties are routinely completed.
  • Familiarize themselves with and conform to all Biosecurity Program Policies and Rose Acre Safety Program.
  • Assist with grader crew compliance and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices Handbook (GMP) policies (applicable only to personnel at complexes with breaker plants).
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must be able to reach areas only accessible by ladder. Must be able to climb to and work on equipment in hard-to-reach areas.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Capable of performing routine math calculations, including percentages and fractions.
  • Must possess a working knowledge egg grader's basic mechanical functions (i.e., fix jam-ups, and be able to perform other minor mechanical repairs).
  • Must be computer literate (i.e., working knowledge of WordPerfect, and Lotus 123).
  • Must be dependable, and be available to work flexible hours - including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to quickly address critical and urgent situations in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Possess good decision making skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Must possess the ability to work in an agricultural environment, indoors, outdoors, office, warehouse, processing, and farm production areas each varying in temperature, and other environment specific atmospheres.
  • Must be willing and able to work past the scheduled leave time to complete the job, if needed.
  • Must possess the ability to work in an open office setting.
  • Must maintain professionalism with coworkers.
