Job description

Role Summary

The Finance & Business Operations Manager ensures strong financial discipline, supports operational performance, and enables strategic execution across the operating unit. This role drives efficient processes, optimized resource use, and alignment across teams to deliver consistent, measurable results.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management

  • Coordinate core business management activities including accounting, financial planning and pricing.
  • Ensure accurate and timely month-end close processes, including consolidation, reconciliations, EAC (Estimate-at-Complete) profitability assessments, and cash flow/balance sheet oversight.
  • Lead Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and Long-Range Plan (LRP) development aligned with long‑term business strategy.
  • Provide clear financial analysis and reporting for operating unit and Group Senior Leadership.
  • Prioritize and manage Non-Contractual Technical Activity (NCTA) and Capital Expenditure investments, including obtaining required Group approvals.
  • Support end‑to‑end proposal development—from draft RFP review through award—including basis‑of‑estimate development, indirect rate application, pricing strategy, and leadership presentations.
  • Manage the operating unit compliance activities, including the relationship with independent auditors and tax advisors.
  • Deliver data-driven recommendations to support business and strategic decision-making.

Operational Leadership

  • Implement and maintain standard operating procedures across business management functions to ensure scalable and repeatable workflows.
  • Lead financial and business risk management activities across the operating unit, coordinating with functional leaders to ensure risks are appropriately identified, assessed and mitigated.
  • Coordinate cross-functional processes to ensure smooth handoffs and workflow continuity.
  • Track team performance against defined metrics, ensuring accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Support employee training and development initiatives to enhance operational capability.
  • Serve as the primary interface between the operating unit and outsourced HR support.

Strategic Execution

  • Translate organizational priorities into actionable plans with clear KPIs, milestones, and timelines.
  • Lead process‑improvement initiatives, including automation, workflow redesign, and cost‑efficiency efforts.

Success Indicators

  • Achievement of AOP financial commitments.
  • Consistent delivery of operating unit performance KPIs.
  • Effective execution of high‑priority strategic initiatives.


Basic Qualifications

  • Direct experience with a U.S. Government contractor, with significant expertise in program finance, accounting, EAC management, and long‑term contract revenue recognition.
  • Experience supporting proposal pricing, business planning and program financial management within a U.S. Government contracting environment
  • Bachelor’s degree and 9+ years of Aerospace Industry experience, or a Master’s degree and 7+ years.
  • Ability to travel 10% or more.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance, or the ability to obtain one.


Compensation Range: $130,000 – $160,000 annually


The compensation range reflects the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to, relevant experience, education, skills, geographic location, and market conditions. The actual salary within this range will be determined based on the selected candidate's background and qualifications relative to the position.
