ABOUT THE POSITION
Oversee management of all areas of Manufacturing to produce products and direct activities so that approved products are manufactured on-schedule and within quality standards and cost objectives.
Key Deliverables
• Assist with the development of policies, programs, and objectives.
• Develop the manufacturing processes and procedures.
• Maintain and improve the organizations competitive advantage.
• Coordinate major projects.
• Facilitate daily communication with production staff with regards to performance, process improvements, safety and quality.
• Develop and deploy the production schedule
Key Activities & Responsibilities
• Assist company officers and senior staff members in the development and formulation of long and short-range planning, policies, programs and objectives.
• Develop the manufacturing plan and establish procedures for maintaining high standards of manufacturing operations to ensure that products conform to established customer and company quality standards.
• Achieve optimum employee levels with least amount of overhead and raw material costs to meet annual budgetary plan.
• Formulate and recommend manufacturing policies and programs that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and the profitability of the operation.
• Identify, recommend, and implement changes to improve productivity and reduce cost and scrap, monitor scrap and rework data. Direct the establishment, implementation and maintenance of production standards.
• Direct and coordinate various programs essential to manufacturing procedures (e.g., training, safety, housekeeping, cost reduction, worker involvement, security, etc.).
• Initiate and coordinate major projects, (e.g., plant layout changes, installation of capital equipment, major repairs, etc.).
• Work effectively and relate well with others. Exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others, working to maintain constructive working relationships.
• Keep current on information and technology affecting functional areas to increase innovation and ensure compliance.
• Participate in existing and new product planning processes.
• Manage work order opening, closures and stock control transactions
• Locates discrepancies and determines reason for inventory differences and makes any necessary adjustments in system accordingly.
• Ensure department specific Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met and make plans to meet requirements.
• Support implementation of and track major transformational programs.
• Champion a continuous improvement culture ensuring engagement and commitment
• Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required.
To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
• BA/BS in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, process engineering, or business administration, or a 4-year technical degree in related discipline
• 5+ years' experience in manufacturing management, preferably in a process-oriented operations and/or related industry.
• Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing staff groups and major projects or initiatives.
• Demonstrated ability to improve safety, quality, and efficiency standards while reducing overall costs.
• Budget development and oversight experience.
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
• Must have leadership skills to enable the development of teamwork among shifts and departments.
• Good human relations including the ability to work closely with others.
• Excellent computer skills and proficient in excel, word, and email.
• Able to excel at operating in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive leadership role.
• Good knowledge and execution of all Basic Principles and communication skills.
Supervisor and Leadership Expectations
• Manufacturing Department: Production Control, Maintenance, Shop Production supervisors, and corresponding shift leads.
• Coach, manage and develop staff and team leaders to optimize performance to meet targets and deadlines.
• Collaborate with Human Resources on employee relations issues including but not limited to discipline and development.
