Data Center Assistant Superintendent About Pogue Construction

As we continue to expand our Mission Critical and Data Center portfolio, we are seeking a motivated Assistant Superintendent who is passionate about field operations and eager to help deliver complex, fast-paced projects that demand the highest standards of safety, quality, and reliability.

Position Summary

The Data Center Assistant Superintendent supports the Superintendent and project team in the daily management of field operations on mission-critical and data center construction projects. This role assists with coordinating subcontractors, monitoring safety compliance, maintaining project schedules, and ensuring work is completed in accordance with contract documents, quality standards, and owner expectations.

The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented construction professional with a strong work ethic and a desire to grow into a Superintendent role within mission-critical construction.

Key Responsibilities Field Operations
  • Assist the Superintendent in managing day-to-day construction activities.
  • Coordinate and monitor subcontractor work to ensure compliance with project schedules, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Conduct routine jobsite walks to verify progress and identify potential issues.
  • Assist with project logistics planning, site access control, material deliveries, and laydown areas.
  • Maintain organized project documentation, including daily reports, field logs, and progress tracking.
Safety Management
  • Promote and uphold Pogue's safety culture on all jobsite activities.
  • Participate in daily pre-task planning, safety meetings, and toolbox talks.
  • Monitor subcontractor compliance with project-specific safety requirements and OSHA regulations.
  • Assist with safety audits, inspections, and corrective action implementation.
  • Report safety concerns and incidents promptly.
Quality Control
  • Assist with quality assurance and quality control processes.
  • Verify installed work meets project specifications and owner requirements.
  • Support inspections, testing procedures, and commissioning activities.
  • Identify deficiencies and track corrective actions through completion.
Schedule Coordination
  • Monitor project progress against short-term and overall project schedules.
  • Coordinate subcontractor activities to support milestone achievement.
  • Assist in identifying schedule constraints and communicating impacts to project leadership.
  • Participate in pull-planning and look-ahead scheduling meetings.
Client & Trade Partner Relations
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and project stakeholders.
  • Represent Pogue professionally during jobsite meetings and client interactions.
  • Support project teams in maintaining a collaborative project environment.
Mission Critical & Data Center Support
  • Assist with coordination of complex MEP systems and critical infrastructure installations.
  • Support commissioning and turnover activities.
  • Understand and help maintain project requirements related to uptime, redundancy, testing, and operational reliability.
  • Participate in planning efforts for phased turnover and startup activities.
Qualifications Required
  • 2+ years of construction field experience, preferably on commercial projects.
  • Working knowledge of construction means, methods, sequencing, and safety practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing project needs.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel as project assignments require.
Preferred
  • Experience with data center, mission-critical, industrial, healthcare, or large commercial construction projects.
  • Exposure to MEP systems coordination and installation.
  • Experience utilizing Procore, Bluebeam, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar construction management software.
  • OSHA 30 Certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent field experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk active construction sites for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb ladders, access elevated work areas, and navigate uneven terrain.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
