Job description

Network Cabling Technician
Location: San Fancisco, CA
Pay: $26-$28/HR

We are seeking several Network Technicians with strong handson experience in racking and stacking network devices, cable patching, physical layer troubleshooting, equipment disposal, and Cisco/Avaya IP phone installation and support.

This role supports facilities operations, site security, and project-based work. Technicians must be motivated, selfdriven, and committed to delivering highquality results with a focus on customer satisfaction.

Position Details
  • Hourly rate based on experience and technical skill level

  • Fulltime role with potential for permanent hire after 6 months

  • Multiple shifts available to support 24/7 operations

  • Client addendum applies and will be provided at offer stage

Responsibilities
  • Patch cabling between network equipment and customer network environments

  • Install power cables within racks, cabinets, and closets

  • Install, troubleshoot, and deinstall network hardware

    • Swap devices such as phones, computers, cables, boards, edge routers, switches, etc.

    • Install, troubleshoot, and remove Network General remote Sniffers

  • Complete complex Move/Add/Change (MAC) requests within defined SLAs

  • Serve as an onsite interface between customer personnel and management

  • Provide hardware breakfix support for network infrastructure

  • Perform onsite callthrough, data, voice, website, and security testing

  • Conduct backup testing to confirm systems are properly connected to the customer network

  • Support carrier circuit testing

  • Assist with facilities-related tasks:

    • UPS/power restoration

    • Water-related issues

    • Emergency cooling restoration

    • Fire suppression activities, restoration, and postevent support

  • Support inventory management:

    • Receive and tag inventory

    • Track spares (crash kits)

    • Order inventory

    • Update inventory records

    • Prepare and return damaged equipment

  • Coordinate with associates and centralized project/operations/MAC management as needed

Requirements
  • Proficiency with technical tools: Sniffers, BERT testers, cable testers, fiber testers

  • Experience working in communications closets

    • Ability to perform rackandstack activities

    • Ability to safely lift heavy equipment

  • Strong understanding of cable patching processes and procedures

  • Familiarity with 66block and 110block crossconnect methods

  • Basic knowledge of data communications networking

    • Ability to assist with troubleshooting

    • Understanding of network terminology

  • IP phone experience:

    • Ability to program Cisco phones

    • Ability to install Avaya phones

    • Ability to troubleshoot both Cisco and Avaya phones

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills

    • Ability to explain technical issues clearly to customers

    • Ability to interpret customer concerns and drive resolution

Experience & Education
  • 5 years of experience in data communications

  • Basic knowledge of Cisco phones, switches, and routers

  • Basic understanding of LAN/WAN networking

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
