What does a Data Migration Director do?

A Data Migration Director is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and management of data migration projects within an organization. This involves ensuring that data is accurately and securely transferred from one system or storage environment to another, often during system upgrades or mergers. The director coordinates teams, manages risk, sets timelines, and ensures compliance with data governance and security standards. What are some common challenges faced by a Data Migration Director during large-scale data transitions, and how can they be addressed?

Data Migration Directors often encounter challenges such as data quality issues, system compatibility, and coordination across multiple teams. Ensuring data integrity throughout the migration process is critical and typically requires thorough planning, robust data validation procedures, and clear communication with stakeholders.
